3 leaves on new growth

Anybody know why I might be getting 3 leaves on my new growth? Only change is a lower light. It’s always been on 18/6 and never had any interrupted light cycle “.

2- 1000 watt mh. I forgot to mention this is all new growth right after topping

It’s only happening with one strain, so I’m thinking it might be genetic? But seems weird to me because they’re growing well still. Only happening to the 5 Mac 1 I have right after topping, not to the other 7.
