3 pointed leaves on 3 foot plants

I gave my girlfriends father 6 nyc diesel clones that I've grown for quite some time. Mine look fabulous, tall bushy, spitting out 9 point leaves. His, on the other hand, are just as tall and bushy, but covered in 3 point leaves. Not a single 5 or 7 and they're quite large. Does anybody know what's up with this? Possibly a deficiency? If so, which? I have some indoors and some out with great results.

if clones were cut from a plant in flower when you reveg it you will see no sarrated edges on leafs and single and double leafs for a while then will go to normal leafing

I also have a 3 pointed leaf plant and mine is about 3 weeks old, I was thinking that it was going to change once it got a little older.

His are like 3 months old, 3 feet tall, and have at least 30 leave set on each of them. I get the whole 3,5,7,9,11 thing as they mature. His are huge and only have 3 pointed leaves. Has anybody ever seen this before? And it has NOTHING to do with age, size, or strain.

I have a super lemon Haze that i took clones from and one of the clones threw 3 fan leaf sets, however other clones from the same mother grew out fine. I think it is a genetic hiccup, I took a couple clones from the 3 leaf plant and they both were fine.
