3000K vs 4000K SPD curves for Samsung LM561C & Emmerson

I have the option of less efficient 3000K led or more efficient 4000K Samsung leds.

So I superimposed two relative colour spectra. But I see no significant departure between those 3000K and 4000K spectra in terms of 680nm+ relative output. Sad Emmerson.

3000K = RED and 4000K = BLUE

3000K LM561Cs spectrum seem subractive somehow. I have compared the PPF between 2700K (131.14 µmol/s) and 4000K (126.73 µmol/s assuming 165 lm/w @ test) which supports the 4000K pumping out more photons.

Tho it wouldn't surprise me if I'm reading this wrong.

I would recommend you to mix it up, especially if you like to use for veg and bloom :) just my opinion

It works with both of them (3k and 4k)

I'm kinda sold on the 4000K having all of the good peaks from the 3000K and 5000K, best of both worlds.

Also growing sativa (black widow and banana) so nervous about stretch.

from the little I have figured out, it seems that the only 3000k board or cob that has better spectrum than its 3500k or 400ok counter part is the cree cxb3590s. Even that wont give you the Emerson effect

Okay yeah those 90 cri ones. Samsung strips doesn't have those, not sure why. Otherwise the PAR photon output is higher with the 4000K, so I really see no benefit to using 3000K or 3500K samsungs

When I started, I thought I was going to like the 4000k better, but after a few side-by-sides, I now am happier with 3000k 90cri. This was after testing against a few Gavita's. If you look at the left it looks like a MH next to a HPS. The left side is a 3000k 90cri. There is to much blue, for me, in the 4000k. The 4000k was also 6" or more shorter than the rest of the room. The foliage was also denser under the 3000k.

Found this old thread on google now and was a suprise to see I'm the op. Stoner. Anyways, 2 years later after using my 4000k samsung strips, I can say its not bad. Plants get very branchy tho. But I going to use that light just for a veg setup and get 3000k strips now. Happy 10% extra Emmerson.
