If i stick with hid i can get a dimmable digital hps with hortilux bulb and good brand hood for 350$
or under.
Im filling a 5x5 tent so what LED could i get that would light the same area as 1000watt hps?

Some people like to have dreams, I try not to crush dreams with reality. A HPS will grow better than anything you can find even if you spend $700 over a 5X5, sorry about that.

Dont worry no ones busting my dreams. Was just wondering. A friend runs a like 200$ led and thinks its equal. Wanted to see what kind of money the actual science based non chinese leds ran, not quite as cheap as hid yet.

I'm an led guy but I'm also honest about things, a 1000w hps is really hard to beat without spending alot of money, even then lighting spectrums are upto what the strain prefers. Some strains perform better under hps as they have been selected to perform best under that spectrum over years and years of indoor grows. Leds are not the solution to everything.

Gets you ~800w of Samsung lm561c for under $500

Might be able to get a little closer to $350 if you find really cheap strips but quality drivers to push enough watts for a 5x5 are gonna set you back.
