That shit blew me away, so I ordered me one pick it up tomorrow morning, anyone got one? what u think of them?

When will I see films like the likes of Jaws and shit come out on 3d blu ray?

If you have a ps3 there is a 3d update for that aswell as some games specifically made for 3d tvs. From my understanding you can upscale 2d content to 3d, not sure how well this works though.

no interest in watching TV with glasses on..

I'll go with 2D TV until it is projected 3d imagery

3D is going to be seriously sick once it's widespread and well implemented. at present most 3D tends to be rather gimmicky add ons such as 3D moviews which also have 2D counterparts, they need to implement 3D as an actual part of the film/game experience as opposed to a bonus.

the nintendo sounds very cool, i think for me 3D will draw me to it more on the game front than the tv and sports.

but can you imagine if tv adverts are allowed to be in 3D? oh god please no, could you imagine a cilit bang advert in 3D? it would just be a virtual 3D CILIT BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG as it appears to smakc you across the head with the product  they'll need some kind of control else it could get REALLY annoying.

Yeah, I wish I could tell you how well it works. I haven't gotten mine yet..

I had to order it. Well, actually Best Buy had to order it for me because they were sold out when I got there.

I ordered the Sony (I won't run anything but Sony) KDL 46" 1080HD (3D ready) LCD Television:

  • Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080)
  • 3D Ready
  • Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology
  • BRAVIA Engine 3
  • Dynamic Edge LED Backlight
  • Ambient Sensor
  • BRAVIA Internet Video
  • BRAVIA Internet Widgets
  • USB Photo/Music/Video Playback

It's my favorite model.. of the 3D Flatscreens that Sony makes. Bet Buy had one, but they had it hooked up to all kinds of shit and were too lazy to unhook it..
But that's actually better that way, because come to think about it.. I don't want the demo model that's been turned on and touched by strangers you know? hehe.. ordering a new one sounds just fine. This way I know that I am the only person that has used/touched the television.. (other than the people at the factory..) I am the only one that has used the television. I like that idea better.

anyhow, I've been tracking the tv. they did give me shipping number that I can use to track it. This morning at 9am it had left on the truck from the warehouse for delivery. So hopefully today or tomorrow it should get here.

Also, I went ahead and bought all the necessary cables and wires that I'm going to need to connect everything. I plan on connecting my computer to it as well.. for some kick ass graphics.

anyhow, im high and babbling.. but I'm pretty excited to see how well this tv really does perform. How much were your 3D glasses cheeze me?

just curious..

peace.

The first & last 3D film I watched was Jaws 3D in the 80's & it was shite.. ever since then, the hype of 3D has never grabbed my interest.. I know things have moved on from the 80's but will this new-wave of 3D technology really catch on like HD has? & be in most peoples homes? I hope not coz I have a HD TV & not even got a HD receiver yet! Technology moves so fast these days, I love my gadgets but just can't keep up sometimes!.. time will tell I guess

Not mine, ;)

the glasses for mine were 99.99$ (after mail-in rebate) Reg. price is 199.95

so I will eventually get my refund back.. through the mail. Won't be for another 6 to 9 weeks though. But hey, in another 9 weeks or so my last Nirvana Ice lady should be very close if not ready for harvest. So that's cool..

but yeah, the glasses alone are expensive. I won't even mention how much I paid for the tv.. but it was a tad bit more than $2500 smackeroos.

But, if its all its cracked up to be.. it'll be worth it.

anyhow, enjoy your new tv CheezeMe.

I know I'll like mine either way..

peace.

$2600 for a 46" 3D is about right I think, I had no idea you had to pay that much for glasses though... I was hoping to get one before Killzone 3 came out but I might have to push my plans back

The glasses on thing is just temporary, in fact last year, I think at CES they demonstrated a LAZER 3D TV that refreshes so fast it basicaly makes what we are using today the equavalent of the amber monitors on old XT computers and could be viewed with no glasses. I believe there is also a giant 3D monitor in one or the other US mall that can be viewed without glasses.
The reviewers were in total disbelief at the quality. I guess the next step is to make it cheaper and bring it to market once sales of the current "glasses" tech has flattened out. I also think the Nintendo 3DS has thrown another positive angle on ways of achieving good quality. Unfortunatly in my experience 3D glasses always tend to make things very dark, yet leaves blacks shimery like satin sheets, due to you observing a black and and apiece of a white state closely after each other.

I still have my old 3d compter gameing glasses around here somewhere, shame they don't work with LCD monitors, haven't used it in years, I always found it gave me an edge in finding cover. and also in car raceing games.

I believe that early adopters of 3D are going to get burned in a bad way. It's cool if you have money to burn.

Besides buying a NEW tv, you have to drop $800 bucks on glasses if you want your friends to enjoy a movie at your place. We already know that "Real 3D" technology works at 144hz which is less than the tv that ganja bought - that can be displayed on a 240hz tv but repeating each frame 5 times vs 3 times at the movie theater and viewed with simple $3 polarized lenses (or free if you take them home after seeing a movie).

Glasses are not the future of 3D technology and I feel the new technology will soon be antiquated when higher resolution displays and better technology allows 3D effects without the need for cheezy overpriced glasses.
