4 white rhino under 1000w using co2.

So hey everyone, this is my first grow journal but my 4th grow. I vegged the plants til they were 18' for max yield without high maintenance of a SOG setup. I flipped the lights on 12/12 December 26th. Lets talk about the setup.

So im using a 1000w HPS with a digital ballast.

Im growing in a 4x4 grow tent.

The buckets im using are 5 gallon utility buckets with 1/2' holes drilled for run off.

Growing medium is promix. *SECRET* i reuse my soil with great results.

Im now running a 4' inline fan due to a 6' inline failure and a shortage at the hydro store.

To reduce smell im running a carbon filter at the end of the ventilation at the top of the tent also a automatic ONA sprayer for odours in the room.

I just switched my nutes from AN to DNF, i will never by AN again. for 100$ i got all of this... 100$ of AN would have got me Grow A/B and Bloom A/B.

So im using co2, its a new product and i will show you the results. Its called a co2 pad. People may say gimmick, i say GREAT VALUE. Before i added a co2 pad my plants were 12' on December 22nd, My plants are now 20'' tall. Yes i just flipped to 12/12 in the last 5 days but come on... 8 inches in 9 days? not a gimmick people... buddy at grow shop tested one with his ppm meter in his display 4x4 tent showed up 1086ppm. You can buy these co2 pads in a 5 pack for 30$ and each pad lasts 2 weeks. Yet again GREAT VALUE.

Grow stores are beginning to get flooded with them, have heard amazing things for the mini pads in humidity domes for clones.

A quick google states they have been developed by NASA to keep food stored longer. Apparently, theyre used in the Food business. Hydro-stores put a premium on everything. I wonder if the 'food' version is even cheaper.

yeah you could be onto something there. At 30$ for 5 and 1 lasting 2 weeks. That is just amazing. I would rather run a 600w with co2 pad then a 1000w without co2 pad. Just my 2cents from using both and the data collected.

A food company is marketing them for using with packed food, on their website they say "for just pennies a pad". ..... I reckon that "Green Pad" company are sticking a hydro label on them and selling them at 10,000% markup. lol

I like them but would prefer them a bit cheaper.

I dont know if these are the same things, probably are.... if so, all they are, are Sodium bicarbonate and lemon juice.... In which case these people are making a killing.

Yes, you can inflate a balloon without blowing into it yourself! You will need:

• vinegar,
• bicarbonate of soda (baking soda),
• a bottle,
• a balloon.

Here's what to do:

1. Pour about 20 ml of vinegar into the bottle.
2. Put 2 teaspoons of baking soda into the balloon.
3. Attach the balloon around the neck of the bottle, taking care not to let any baking soda fall into the bottle (you may need some sticky tape to secure the balloon).
4. Once the balloon is securely fastened to the bottle, lift the balloon so that the baking soda is tipped into the bottle. Sit back and watch the balloon inflate!

DAY 5

Girls are looking good after a full feeding, white hairs are barely starting to appear, but... they are there.

This is my OG Kush by Reserva Privada im mothering for my next grow, i plan on having two 1000w for my next grow.

Very cool dude, Im on board all the way.

Im currently doing white russian so it'll be interesting to see if the buds looks similar.
One comment on your setup. Ive got two of those cooltubes and just changed one over to a regular aircooled hood which I find reflects the light downwards much more effectively. If you look you'll find much of that light is being sent sideways onto the walls of your tent.

Im getting rid of my cooltubes as soon as I can.

Yeah, the air cooled hood has a glass bottom, else it wouldnt work very well. My temp are pretty cool, buds could almost touch the glass. and thats with 2 x 600w and carbon filter being pulled through by 1 RVK fan (Like yours).

.... If you add the side reflectors that came with your cooltube it helps reflect some of that light down, but not enough for me. I reckon the cooltube loses 20-30% of usable light through poor design. Obviously they would work much better if hung vertically.

yeah i see what your saying, my card should be here in a few weeks with my updated 15g/day (73 plants) so il be getting a industrial unit probly guna switch to the hoods

DAY 6


so good news and bad news, il start with the bad news. My OG Kush mother started to pre-flower so i was forced to take 12 clones and half way through i decided to put it in a 5 gallon bucket and flower it with the 4 White Rhinos.

Well as that was i guess both good and "bad" news, as Monkeyfloss said the hood was better and recomended the cool tube reflectors. After some digging in some rubber maids i found them.

Progress. Im now seeing pistils on every bud site EXTREMELY exciting considering this is my 1st photo grow as ive done a few auto grows before. They arent getting any taller but the lower branches are stretching up for the good ol' 1000w light.

DAY 9

GHS White Rhino x 4

so today is day 9, im excited to see all the pistils starting to cluster and create bud sites. People i know said i wouldnt see sex for about 10-14 days after i said told them i seen them at 5 days, it was apparent i had monsters on my hands. They now stand about 21'' and i believe they are done stretching.

Reserva Privada OG Kush x 1

Heres a re-cap on the OG Kush, i was mothering it but she decided to preflower so i took about 12 cuttings and put it in a 5gallon bucket directly under the 1000w. She is stretching good towards the White Rhino canopy. Im hoping for a OZ off the OG kush but im not expecting it.

DAY 13

Well ive been blessed to have amazing progress so far. I got buds the size of my buddys hindu kush at week 5. Ive got about 8 main buds on each of the White Rhino and the OG Kush is a little lanky right now but should come along shortly. All the lower branches are shooting to the top making themselves side shoots with some decent weight at this time.

Ive been giving my plants feeding every other day with no problems at full dosage. My canopy is about 24'' tall. Adding the reflector on my cool tube as recommended has been doing wonders for me. It almost seemed as if the cool tube was acting as a hand without a thumb, just didnt work without the reflector.
