400 watt MH lamps difference between remote and the all one units?

I have been looking online at buying new and used 400w MH lighting. I see some that have digital ballasts that are separate from the bulb and require reflectors and range from $150-$300 then I see other 400w MH that are one unit types that are really cheap compared to the remote digital ballast setups I have found some that are $25-$50 they look like big wharehouse industrial lighting type that have the ballasts on top with the bulb and housing underneath. Can I use the cheaper lights to grow?

It would take some modifying but any hid lights will work, hey if you can save money then I would go for it..

yep you can use the industrial ones .. but make sure you check the voltage they are wired for, a lot of factories wire them for 220\240v .. or like here in canada 347v
