400 watt or 600 watt hid in this closet?

There is 500 watts of CFL there and I pulled 280 grams off of that. I want to upgrade and get rid of the top CFL's and put a 400 watt cool tube set up in there, and exhaust running up to the attic crawlspace with a good 6 inch fan. Do you think a 400 watt hid is enough to provide a substantial upgrade? I wanted to go with the apollo horticulture all in one pack on amazon that comes with the bulbs, cool tube, hangers, timer etc. Kind of worried about heat and blowing a breaker with a 600, plus with the 400 I could still add some side lighting CFL.
Im going to do a sea of green grow with whatever I choose but I'm going to do autoflowers that way I don't have to seal up the closet for light leaks

You would be fine with a 600 IMO but yes 2 400 would be better. As for breaker blowing a 15 amp will handle a 600 no problem, 1000 wouldn't be an issue lol.

led . or two 400 watt bulbs . you need to lights 1 wont flood all those plants . unless the space is smaller then it looks what size is it ?

The area I want to light is 4' x 2' , that leaves me room to put an oscillating fan in there and some room in the front. I think I will have to go with the 600 if I want to upgrade. And the breaker is 20 amp

This is one of those closets with 2 sliding doors, 65" x 32", since I'm doing autos and dont have to worry about light leaks i'll just take one door off for air flow and then have a in line fan in the attic pumping up air from the cool tube hood.

What strain? I'm just finishing up a think different grow (outdoor) and the first plant seems quite nice for an auto.

400w covers about 3x2

I would think about a 400w and possibly some of the newer 17w LED replacement bulbs along the dark edge(s)? Those things are showing some great promise within 12". Probably be the cheapest option that will still decently fill the space. :)

If I get a 600 watt with a dimmable ballast, couldn't I just dim it down %75 if it runs too hot?
My dimmer on my 600s goes 600-400-250 and up to 660. when dimmed to 400 it is best to screw in a 400 bulb but you can just use a 600 bulb. It may shorten the life span of the bulb slightly. But yeah, they are cheap enough these days. If your venting out I would of thought with one in a cool tube or hood you will be fine.

I have used led light's but see no use in changing from a hps if its a small area go with a cool tube, with a fan on the out side of the grow room blowing air in a straight line straight through the tube directly out the other end of the room. This will help temp's out more than running a fan from a filter then through tube, still run a filter though, and still have it chucking that heat out the room,i say that because you say the room is small,i normally say big exaust fan with a couple inch drop inlet.Make sure that you use expanding foam to seal any holes you cut, this will stop any smell getting out the room.

^^^ or keep the room in a slight negative to stop odours from getting out works well to. I have passive intake and no odours at all if the extraction fan is on.
