400 watt question..

I have a medium 2 plant closet grow and have a question about my 400 watt bulbs for veg and flower. I know the blue spectrum is great for veg but my Optilume Metal Halide bulb I use in the veg stage puts out 38,000 lumens while my flowering bulb (Hortilux Super HPS) puts out 55,000 lumens. My question is won't the extra lumens in my HPS do more good than the spectral benefits of the Metal Halide in my veg stage? (The Hortilux HPS also has some added blue spectrum to it, but come on... thats a 20,000 lumen difference)

If you post this in the regular section you'll get more views than the CFL section.
Personally, I mixed veg and flower spectrum of CFL's when I vegged, and throughout flowering, so if you have the room and can handle the heat. could you run both?
Otherwise, I would just run your HPS for flowering.

Plants don't need as much light in veg. as they do in flower. You could use your hps for veg., but I would only recommend this if you didn't have a mh. Stick with mh/veg. and hps/flower.
Happy Growing.
