400 watt vs. 600 watt

how much of difference in yield and quality would there be from a 400 watt to a 600 watt system. i have never used a 600 watt system. is it dramatically better than a 400 watt? just trying to get an idea if the investment of moving to the bigger system is worth it? thanks for any replies, and sorry for the noob question.

One downside I have found with a 600 watt HPS is there are no cheapo home depot $20.00 bulbs available in 600 watt, like there is for a 400 watt.

multiply your current yield per watt by 1.5.....either by increasing flower area or giving you denser, heavier nugs it will give you 50% more....if all else is equal.

If your flowering little bushes it will help with penetration, if you are doing a SoG then it will allow more square footage of canopy to be flowered and should help with density on everything below the top of the cola.

this of course assumes you have more space than you are currently using and you not talking about a 2'x3' closet where watts per foot are already about maxed out

Hopefully you aren't using these lamps

As a general rule I avoid the absolute cheapest option when it comes to any parts for my lights--you don't need to buy the most expensive just not the cheapest :blsmoke:

If I plan on putting the bulbs into a cooltube, should I go with a 600 watt bulb? I read that with a cooltube you do loose some lumens.
