400W TGA subcool's Agent Orange Grow

This is my third grow, I was using CFL's for the previous runs and decided to get a ballast and hps bulb for this one.

I had mitigated results so far caused by a pretty bad male/female ratio for both grows (jacks cleaner 2 and querkle, also from subcool) and what looked like a nitogen def (leaves yellowing from the bottom by the end of vegetation) which really screwed up the end results.

Anyway, about this grow :

medium : nutrimix hp plus
lighting : 400W hps
nuts : canna substra (vega and flores)
strain : TGA subcool's Agent Orange
temps / humidity % : 75F-80F / 40-50%
space : 3x3x4 cabinet

I germed the seeds like I did for my previous grows by sinking them in water for a little less than 24hrs and then using the paper towel method. All seeds germed successfully.

I'm using the 400W hps from seed, I know an MH bulb or even my previous CFL setup would be better. Next run I'll get an MH bulb.

The guy at my local grow shop recommended jiffy pellets to sprout the seeds which turned out to be a disaster. The pellets were drying too quickly (~ every 8 hours with the 400W about 20" above the plants), almost lost all the sprouts. I "repotted" the jiffy into party cups with the soil and watered like I usually do, all good now but I've lost 2 in the process, they stopped growing but they,re still there, I just don't accept the fact that they're dead.

So this is them, 8 days...



Haven't found much info about how long I should veg this one, time and space will tell.

Starting this journal since I haven't found many about this strain and I'll probably need some topping / feeding advices.

Ok so this is them, @ 2 weeks :



They have not grown so much for the past week. I had a drainage/overwatering issue when using the party cups, leaves were drooping for ~2-3 days. I repotted them and added some more perlite in the process. They're looking way better now.

Started the canna vega nuts at 1/3 strength. Since I got the soft version of the canna nuts (wasn't aware there was a soft and hard version when I got them), I started watering using distilled water, will have to pay attention to calmag def I guess.

Ok so today for some reason the girls will be spending the day in my old grow closet under a mix of cold and warm CFL's.



Noticed what seems to be a little nute burn, tips of the leaves are turning a bit yellowish. Will continue feeding every other watering at 1/3 str for now.



2 days ago I added some freebies that I got from hemp depot for my last order, bag says "swazi". Very satisfied with hemp depot so far, I always get some freebies and since they're shipping from Ontario I always get my seeds really quickly.

it will be interesting to see how many females you get i usualy get 3 out of 5 i have grown querkle,qrazy train ,ace of spades & spacedawg all giving me good grows querkle being my favorite im waiting for the attitude to get their 9 pound hammer in stock & oddly enoug ive always wanted to try cheesequake

hey geero please keep posting i have a thread on my skywalker & it seems like im my own biggest fan there is not much outside interest in my grow but i keep it updated it gets better when you get bud shots to post ill keep dropping by agent orange should produce for you ive had good luck all of the sub-cool stuff ive ran so far

Yea I really liked Querkle, veg was a bit slow and I had only 3 females out of 9 plants but still a nice one.

to get the most out subs geer i think you have to start from seed then clone & number your plants & each clone with the number of its parent so when they show sex you weed out the males & when your first round is done you then select the females [phenotypes] that have the traits you favor they then go into future grows ace of spades is still making the rounds in a friends growroom off seeds i bought 2 years ago

So I repotted them today, from 1.5 liter to 1.5 gallon pots which will most likely be their final home.

I added some extra perlite in the promix hp since drainage doesn't seem that good.

They'll continue to veg for another 2 weeks, that would be 5 weeks total from when they popped out of soil.



Would you call that root bound?



One if very small and bushy compared to the others.

I'll definitely switch to 12/12 this week, giving them a few days to recover.

Hopefuly yea During my first 2 grows I was already getting yellowing leaves at the bottom, either due to N def or the girls being root bound, they're not looking so bad so far, even tough I was expecting a bit more from my first run with hps / nutes.

Keeping the thread as updated as I can since I will change the setup for the next grows and I'll use this one as a baseline.

The next thing will probably be a hortilux blue MH bulb, I'm wondering what kind of impact it would have compared to my current hps or a t5 setup.

They're about 10-12" tall. Everything seems alright except that the newest set of leaves on one of them looks bleeched.



It's sitting at the same distance from the hps than the others, maybe too much nutes but I'm still only feeding them at 50% of what canna suggests, anyway.

I will switch to 12/12 by the end of the week, maybe I'll be able to fill a bowl with the only hemp depot freebie that survived.

Looks like they're doing pretty well. I'm not sure I would call that nute burn in that previous picture though. It's always hard to tell in pictures though just because of lighting. But I'm a horrible soil grower so you can take that like a grain of salt. haha

Anyways, I'm gonna stick around and see what happens. I'm on the TGA strains right now. I just finished up a grow with a querkle plant. That was some stinky tasty stuff ! Real stout plant. If I ever did a real S.O.G. with 4+ plants per sq ft, querkle would definitely be a good contender.

Right now I have 3: Agent Orange. 3: Ace of Spades. 1: Jack the Ripper... Then I have 2: Sensi Jack herer. The link to that grow is in my sig. You should check it out.

But I think I'll sub up for this. I'm curious to see what yours do compared to mine.

Will definitely be fun to compare, that's the whole point of my frequent updates. It's not that veg pics are so exciting but it's always nice to see how your setup does compared to others.

Lots of people have grown this strain but I haven't found a whole lot of detailled journals.

I agree. I feel its the same way with most tga strains.
But im not passing by sir, im here for the ride.

hey geero just dropped in to say hi my grow is doing good & im gonna clone this week-end as things are ready are you gonna clone your a/o??? i dont keep moms but clone off whatever im growing cloning really allows you to get the best out of a strain & select the pheno you want i clone in rockwool & humidity dome ive also used a tinfoil dish with clear dome & a small cfl it worked out fine & had minimal cost would be still doing it that way if someone hadnt gifted me the dome,heat mat & light
