400watt hps Ideal room size and how many can I grow?

Recently I have been given a 400watt hps. I want to know what the ideal size area I need and how many plants can be grown under it. Any pointers are appreciated

depends on how big you want to grow ur plants but as many as you can fit in a 4 by 4 under it leave room if you want to grow them big
