450hps

hi guys,
just bought a 450watt hps only just started germinating 5 babies, I've heard you should start with a much lower watt light, because of heat etc. Don't want to get another light, do any of u scientists know the steps I could take to use a 450 hps throughout? X

keep the light about two ft or maybe a lil more away you dont want your seedlings gettin too hot. also you should look into adding some daylight cfl's with reflectors for your veg cycle. they want more blue light then.

Lots cheaper dollar wise to run cfl's at this stage, too. Save the HPS cuz they do burn out.

Cool thanks. So essentially cfl's at the begining. At what stage would u switch to hps?
