Hey everybody!
I have posted a bunch of stuff that relates to the CONSTRUCTION of the picture I am about to post so PLEASE do not delete my post, it is NOT a repeat but merely a visual image of my box in order to ensure accurate help.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DONT NEED EXACT SPECS AND CAN STILL ANSWER MY QUESTIONS SKIP TO "HERES MY PROBLEM"!
The box is this:
The measurements are not on this diagram because I am not asking about anything technical. Its 4x4x2d for those who need to know. It consists of the following starting at the basics:
1. Interior painted flat white, 4x coat to ensure maximum reflection of lighting.
2. Doors fabricated and added, hinged and latched - Sealed all light leaks w. weather strips.
3. Installed Four computer fans, two intake in the top left box on the BOTTOM of the left wall and two mid exchange fans on the UPPER wall between the two top chambers.
4. Installed exhaust blower (from an old dell cpu, friggen thing pushes more air than my air mattress pump) with exhaust tube going outside.
5. In the top left chamber I installed a dual flood light fixture (positionable) that FOR NOW houses two 120w Plant Bulbs. These bulbs will be replaced by 100w CFL (6500k) vegetation bulbs very shortly because the 120w's produce WAY too much heat for the box..
6. I moved to the upper right box and began to install the lighting sockets. I chose to replace all the tube lights with dual fixtures and have two dual fixtures on each wall in the same vertical way, each bulb will house a 100w CFL twist (1750 lumens each bulb).
7. I fabricated a quad light fixture out of a horizontal dual bulb house and two Y bulb splitters on each side. The entire thing looks similar to an X with bulb housing on each corner. I suspended this by secure chain and pulley out of a light sealed hole in the exact middle of the top. This quad fixture will hold 4 / 300w 8" bad boy CFL twist bulbs (2500k, 5000 lumens each bulb)
8. I wired all of this up. I put the flood light fixture on its own line, 2 bulbs to one cord plug is my ratio and wattage capability without starting a fire lol. The quad light fixture is attached to an industrial power cord to ensure the wattage can be held properly.
9. I found eight 5dx5h pots that will be able to sustain the size plants I am growing and also fit 6-8 pots into the top right chamber with ease and space to grow.
HERE IS MY PROBLEM lol...
I started all of this up and began vegetating my plants in the top left chamber under the plant lights with an added fan to ensure proper temperature. My mistake was the soil I used... I used MG Outdoor soil. Apparently this soil is PACKED full of nutes to help out the surrounding soil outside after placement.
Here is what I need to know.
1. What kind of INDOOR soil would be best for this set up?
*I would like soil that isn't so packed with nutes so that I can regulate them using nutes in the water.
2. What are some good liquid nutes that I could get, and why would you recommend them specifically. Need ones for every stage, vege - flower. And if possible could you inform me about how the nutes work w plants? or jus link me somewhere lol
3. What kind of thermometer would I want in for the rooms? I cant seem to find an external. Im trying to find one that displays the temp and humidity inside the box and displays it outside.
Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Its sad though, I had some nice lil plants they looked healthy as all hell and then just turned yellow and browned over the course of a day. Im an inexperienced grower so I had to let them go....
Thank you again for reading my book! LOL
