i got two cheap clamp sockets and 2 bulb splitters for ~$40 and the bulbs are less than 6 for 13 at wallmart?

8cent a watt. how much do you pay?

lol nooo it does not pull 104 watts and throw out 400 watts, it uses 104 watts of energy to produce the same amount of light a 400 watt incadescent would put out.
You should really pay no attention to the wattage on those things and just look at the lumens.

I was actually headed to Home Depot in the next few days planning on doing this exact same thing.
Did the splitter with two CFLs in it fit into the clamp socket? Is the metal shade on the clamps big enough for 2 CFLs to fit?
Oh, and where did you get the timer and splitters at? Home Depot, Lowes or somewhere similar?
