4'x4' COB grow advice needed -- 3, 5, or 7 gal plants?

Hi all,

I'm enjoying my first grow but unsure on how to proceed.

I'm on week 5 (from seed) and I'm growing an indica (Afghan Kush) and a sativa (NL #5 x Haze)

I am planning on veging for 3~ more weeks then flipping to flower. (8 week from seed veg total?)

I was planning on repotting in about a week... but I'm not sure if I should go to a 5 or 7 gallon, for an indoor 4x4 grow.

Any advice?

8 weeks veg plus 8 weeks flower plus extra weeks for sativa, lets say 18 weeks, 1ltr per week of life = 18 litre
which is about 5 US gallon. However cloth pots should increase root growth and mass so if you can fit it in go with 7 US gallon to be on the safe side. Doesn't hurt to go bigger when your roots are well established as they clearly should be looking at the size of the plants.
Hope they turn out awesome!

Looks like your "sativa" got more of the NL dominant pheno.

Either way, I think 3 more weeks of veg might be a bit much. Plants really take off from where you are at now and shoot up quickly plus your flower stretch on the NL/Haze will be bad if it turns out to be Haze dominant.

As far as pots, go with 5 gallon. Ive run a few grows with the same strain and noticed that 5 gallon is good for a longer veg. If you flower now, 3 gallon would be sufficient. The gains I saw from 7 gallon vs. 5 gallon were not enough to warrant the cost of dirt (very minimal) and this was with plants that were vegged 8-10 weeks (6 weeks from clone).
