This is a continuation of my old thread: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/323986-4x8-240w-secret-jardin-growroom.html

I apologize for how long this took to post, but here goes... My DR240W Grow Room(s) :)

Wattage: One 600W HPS for veg and one 600W Metal Halide for flower room. Both are housed in Sun System Blockbuster's.
Ventilation: One 6" inline fan strictly for hood ventilation and one 6" inline fan for air ventilation and exhaust from rooms split by a "y" connector to each room. Both fans are run through fanspeed controllers to give me complete control of airflow and ducted into my attic through a scrubber. Small fans push air into each room through the bottom ducts and medium sized rotating fans inside each room to keep a constant temperature and airflow.

I went through 2 different designs before I was happy with the performance of the divider wall. My first design failed to stay taped to the rooms inner walls. Apparently, reflective duct tap does not do too well with staying stuck to the reflective material on the inside of the Darkroom. In my second design, I upgraded to a far more resilient material to secure the insert to the reflective material of the tent: 2" wide Adhesive Velcro Stripping.

First I used rzza's suggestion from Home Depot and used one roll of the Reflectix 24 In. x 25 Ft. Double Reflective Insulation as my material for the divider.

I cut it into thirds, making three 2ft x 8.33ft sections, and had my girlfriend sew the thirds together with some fishing line and a strong canvas needle, making it ~6ft x 8.33ft. I made a mock-up on a piece of paper of my design to help me through the cutting process.

I measured cutts along the sides to make the sheet of reflective insulation into a sort of quarter cube.. thing. With an exacto knife, I made the incisions to create the corners. Once cut, I brought it inside the tent and began to fold and tape the corners up.

Then I used one and a half rolls of Industrial Strength Adhesive Velcro Tape to build a light barrier/seal around the outside of the divider, ultimately separating the two rooms from any light/air contact. There was a little trouble getting around the metal structural pipes on the roof, but I simply used old clean socks to fill the gaps.

This also gave me the very cool option of making the insert easily removable, in case I wished to ever use the room as a whole in the future! I taped over the sewing points with some reflective duct tape to keep out any light trying to escape from the veg room.

Of course, I outfitted them to the best of my abilities with ample light and air movement.

I will admit that this setup is a bit over-kill for the size of the rooms, however, this is something I plan to use for the remainder of my life. I also wanted the option of upgrading the room size later without having to purchase a whole new get-up.

That's it! If you are ever interested in doing this feel free to copy my design and throw in a few things of your own. The more the merrier! Here is a few other pictures of the rest of the design..

i love it...i am so surprised that a grow tent company has yet to make a multi room tent...

and p.s i would think you would want the scrubber on the flowering side...any reason you didnt put it there?

Looks great! I do have 1 question "fishern3", looking at your pictures, can you please tell me what that tube like thing is? and what its for? I see that people use it but just dont know what that is.

That tube is a carbon filter to scrub the smell.

Hey man, is this a single 4x8 tent that can be divided in the middle?
If so , what brand it is?

Thx.

Hi Fish :)

Have to say , The rooms look great , Good Luck with your Grow :)

I have a question about the " Reflectix reflective insulation " ... I seen it at a DIY store and it caught my attention , It looks like an ideal lineing for any room , Reflective ...insulative ... easy to seal and looking at the lable it has been pretty well graded as a safe CFC free product thats heat resistent .... I just want your opinion on it ( and anyone else who wants to chip in ) It looks like a very cheap and safe alternative to other reflective sheets .... what you guys think ?

Havent heard this from everyone but that Reflectix reflective insulation has been said to have a beam kind of effect, when the light reflects off it instead of causing a steady reflection it cause it to make light beams like crumpled aluminum foil would.

I was thinking the same thing about the reflectix, how it looks like bubblewrap, so wouldn't you think that the light would make like a disco ball style of light reflection?? Other than that, that is a great setup, looks like alot fo hard work from concept to completion. congrats on finishing it! Hope to hear more about your first grow in it! Sub'd

If you got time check out my grow. no where near what you got but it works for us! :)

Thank you everyone for all of your support! You have all convinced me to start a grow journal, so I will get to that after this quick post.

To answer a few questions:

noris559: They actually have: http://www.secretjardin.eu/index/pages/lang-en/id_page-111/. Secret Jardin's EXTREMELY expensive INTens line of grow-tents are able to zip together. I have yet to find a tent maker that offers the "zip together" option... please do tell if you do. The scrubber has no use as of yet, since I have no plants currently or soon to be in their flowering state. I simply left the thing tied up to keep it out of my way for the time being. However, I do plan to move it into the flower room when the time comes, or I feel like it :P.

wildpony: as Xan2 said, that tube is a scrubber that "scrubs" odors out of the air by filtering the airflow through a thin layer of carbon. Pretty cool!

Xan2: Yes, that is a single 4'x8' tent purchased from my local hydroponics store. It is a Secret Jardin DarkRoom DR240W Grow Tent that I have divided into two rooms. I constructed a divider made up of Reflectix insulation to allow for a simultaneous veg/flower scenario.. It's working pretty sweet so far :)

Vento: The Relectix insulation is most definitely a safe and fairly cheap alternative to other reflective materials from my own experience. However, I would not ever say it was superior to Mylar's reflective properties... The other great thing about Reflectix though is it's ability to insulate. I have experienced steady 12-15 degree temperature differences between both rooms during the mornings and evenings. This tells me that it's insulation abilities are very efficient with my 600W on.

RexA: Awesome CFL setup! I thought for a long time of making my own grow CFL, but I quickly became seduced into the world of High Intensity Discharge lights when I witnessed their potential :P I will be watching your journal more closely! Thank you for your support!

I am going to start on that journal! Cheers all!

RexA, I noticed your post on my old thread about sewing the Velcro onto the Reflectix to make it removable. Well, that was actually exactly what I did! However, I used an adhesive style of Velcro, but it is stuck on their so hard that it might as well be sewed! :P

Hey Fish,

That's very creative and nice work. I had a very similar plan in mind but due to space restrictions went with a slightly different approach. I'm curious. How much heat are you generating with that setup? Are you finding you have to cool it down alot?
