5 Characteristics of Top-Shelf Buds

like Shango and Chong’s Choice buds, is distinguishing the herb from a sea of mediocre, bottom-shelf variants. Keep reading to find out the exclusive characteristics of iconic buds that deliver fairy-tale highs.

1. Trichome Count is Off the Charts

Strains with 30 percent or higher potency levels come with a ridiculous amount of trichomes. The buds should be caked on with tiny crystals and sparkly, thick hairs. “Despite celebration of the plant’s green leaves and buds, it is actually the nearly invisible sugary crystalline trichomes that provide all medical or recreational value,” explained Gooey Rabinski from Whaxy.

2. It Came From a Top-Shelf Seed

Bad seeds or clones cannot generate top-shelf cannabis. When in doubt, ask your local budtender about the origin of the weed selection in the dispensary. Most legendary buds come from well-known seed banks.

Not sure where to buy top-shelf buds? Check out Chong’s Choice selection of flowers, oil cartridges, pre-rolls and THC strips. The Shango-grown products offer a wide range of highs, from intense and cloudy to vibrant and energetic!

3. The Buds are Slightly Leafy

Leaves are typically cut away from the bud in low-quality strains or during mass cultivation. For top-shelf buds, the trimmer purposely retains some of the leaves surrounding the bud. This practice is only common when trichomes build up on the actual leaves. When this happens, the trimmer keeps those parts with the bud. By comparison, low and mid-grade weed rarely generate thick trichomes on their leaves.

4. Your Neighbors can Smell your Stash

Top-shelf buds are extremely pungent and dense. With above-average terpene levels inside the bud, most fire strains have one or two dominant odors (usually musky or sour). The smell should be so strong the odor goes through small, plastic pouches. Because of this, top-shelf buds must be stored in sealed jars or odor-proof bags.

this seems like it was written by a non smoker HAHAHAHA or someone really lame!

5 qualities of top shelf bud: (by MAG)
1.Cakey!!-should be resinous and completely coated in trichs
2.Dank!- smell should instantly wash over you when the container is cracked
3.Dense!-shit should be rock solid, grinder is a must
4.Well trimmed- Im not gunna buy some shit I know the grower is just trying to leave on to add weight to his harvest. especially because leaves give more of the headachy feeling than buds. we grow for bud not leaf, save that for extracts.
5.Effect- Ideally you want to get stoned off your ass but unfortunately many top shelf strains are a lot better looking/smelling/tasting than they are psychoactive.
