They work but those are equivalents not actual watts. So at 150 that is a 42w bulb. They cost too much for just a 42w.

I am using the clamp lights I also got from lowes. How do I know if I am at 50, 100, or 150? Am I definately getting 42 actual watts?

I think those bulbs have to go in a lamp that has a 3 way switch. I don't know what default would be. Find a three way lamp and compare brightness at the 3 settings.

damn, I already have my lamps and I am sure they do not have switches, do they make extenders that have switches?

You need to get switchable lamps and clamp lamps don't do that. Your getting the lowest possible watts right now (50) and that's not enough for growing. That's equivalent to a 14 watt cfl. Just replace them with real 42 watt cfl's that are only 1 way.

So I got home tonight and three of my babies were fried... i pulled them all out and tossed the dead ones. I checked my water temperature, 98 F ! I am surprised any of them were left. It felt like hot tub water in my tub, I put some ice in there and I am waiting for it to cool down before I put my CFLs on. I checked them with a Lamp that has a 3 Way switch at my house and it appeared that the clamp ons matched the light with 3 way cranked all the way up. So I am hoping I will be getting the full 150 w. I will be getting my real CFLs tomorrow or tuesday, then I should be home free.
