5th Week In Flower, This Is All There Is.....

So this is going on the 5th week of my first grow in flower. You can see a little nute burn, which has been addressed. Flowers are forming. I just figured they would be farther along than this. I am currently flowering under 432 watts of T5 light. The slow flower development has prompted me to bite the bullet and jump to HPS light (ordered today). All 4 plants are from seed. Variety is "Bubblegun" purchased from SS. Vegged for 8 weeks. Growing organic soil. In veg they were given weekly doses of fish emulsion. In flower they receive a light dose of kelp/guano/alfalfa tea ever other watering. Plants are kept withing 4" of light except for photo ops..... Is this about all I can expect?

For the sake of better pictures I have the red bulbs off, that's why the pics appear so blue.

Yep..the stretch has long past. So, no more height. The buds should bulk up a bit more as time goes by.

Good luck

I have a clone off each in the lower cabinet. They have been going for 6 weeks and looking great. When I get home from work I intend to top them and start new clones. Narrowing down to the one plant that produces best in my environment. But they will be flowered under HPS light. BTW, each flowering plant is in 2 gallon root pouches. I'm not disheartened at all... more determined actually. I need to figure out what makes these girls happiest.

The smaller ratty looking clones in front is my wife's first attempt at cloning..... and by god she is going to make them grow. She left them in the cloner for 2.5 weeks. But they seem to be off and running in soil now.

The first is from last week. The second is from this week.

wow. i have to say those are the smallest 8week vegged plants i have ever seen. i have a bunch of different strains and all were taller than those at week 3-4, even the strong indicas.

Cracked the beans mid August and put them into flower mid October. Topped twice for 4 mains and LSTed to spread the 4 mains out and keep them low expecting them to take off. The take off never happened. Hell, the clones in the lower cabinet are twice as tall as my flowering plants. I waited until they had 6 nodes to top and topped them back to the 2nd. I am thinking this is probably the issue..... I topped too much and stunted them.

I also had a Purple Widow that autoed (male) that topped out at a whopping 10 inches tall, never topped. I am running 8 x 54w T5's and have shit for growth and see people vegging with two bulb T8 shop lights getting better growth. I say I'm not disheartened but I am a little frustrated. But like I said, this is my first bunch of plants into flower. I know I have a steep learning curve ahead of me.

The soil is by the numbers Subcool Super Soil with the aforementioned additional "nutes". They were top dressed with fresh super soil when put into flower. I may say Fook it and not top the clones and see what happens to them in flower.

I guess the pertinent question now is what do I do for them from here to harvest? Any way to improve their situation? Would sticking them under the 600W HPS (when it arrives) do any good or just shock the shit out of them. My wife sends pictures of them to me daily and from what I can tell there isn't a brown pistol on any of them yet. From my understanding that still puts me out 2 or 3 weeks. My goal now is to just get the best out of these current plants as I can and not have a repeat of this in future grows.

Just wait my friend the pant will let you know. Pay attetion to root development. Look for that new growth. Feel less for awhile then increase back

I had a 10" tall mainlined bag seed plant with a nice pencil thick stem up and die. I wasn't there to see it happen but my wife said it looked like it needed water and the soil felt dry so she watered it and the next day it was fully wilted. When she pulled it she said it had next to no roots. I am starting to wonder if it's possibly something lacking in the soil..... we had a week of high temps that had peak temps in the cab at 102 and I though this was the reason for stunted growth. When I first left for work 6.5 weeks ago she was watering too often and the plants showed signs of lockout and this has since been addressed. The temps now are running 68 low and 88 high. I am leaning towards soil because I took the larger clones in the back in those pictures 7 weeks ago and that is all the bigger they are... about 12" tall. I know tons of people swear by Sub's soil recipe so now I am wondering if I just dicked it up somehow.

My guess

Such big pots with little plants - probably over watered them and they aint getting dried out and drowning the roots.

NO ROOTS NO FRUITS

You wont get much of of these use it as a learning curve.

put the big light in when you get it about 18 inches of the top of the plant

your wife's plants look like it could use some nutes 1/4 strength for now

Just read you last post after I posted mine

I stand by my assumption

Focus on root development in veg state

michrorizens (sp), teas, house and gardens root accelerator, how often you water. Put the pots on a block so that the run off doesnt get sucked back into the plant with all of the wasted salts. Wet your roots with just water before you feed it nutes so that the nutes dont burn up your roots. Since your roots should be dried out some before you water -- RIGHT!

Early on when I left for work she thought spraying them down daily also meant watering. My fault for not clarifying it to her. They all got a bit of moisture stress. Now she doesn't water until the soil is bone dry on surface and the pots feel light. So on average every 3 or 4 days. I add Old Old Organics Root Rally to each pot when transplanted and then water in with Age Old water soluble Myco.

I told her to hit the plants in the lower cabinet with a shot of fish emulsion when I saw the yellowing in the picture she sent me. Here is another concern though. Those clone in the back are in 4" pots and have been in them for 7 weeks!!! And they are still under a foot tall. The went straight from the cloning chamber into super soil... I am wondering if I haven't just frizzled the shit out of the roots and stunted them from the get go but the resilient little bastards continue to make the best of a bad situation. SHould I start them in something like a nursery seedling mix that's real light on nutrients to force the roots to venture out in search of food?? I notices when i potted the one in flower now up from the 4" pot to the 2g pouches that they didn't have very dense root growth. Hopefully the extended time in the 4" pots will help the bigger clones...

Shit is all new to me. I grow state champion tomatoes and peppers.... everything in my outdoor organic garden grows like it's in mutant cow shit. Yet this wee tiny WEED... is kicking my ass. I know what the problem is. It's me, I am way over thinking it and not listening to the damned plant...

what soil preparation are you doing to grow killer tomatoes.

apply that here. If your super soil thing doesnt do it for you then change it up. You need to learn what works for you.

get that root accelerator from h n g and dont over water them. If everything is right they should grow like crazy. If not then you have to change it up and figure out what is wrong.

It sounds like your not there to over see the grow

When you say shot of fish emulsion do you mean like 5-10 ml per gallon of water?

Mixed as per the instructions on the bottle. Something like 2tblsp per gallon. Yes, I am not there and that makes it difficult. My wife doesn't have the greenest thumb but she is personally invested in making this work as well, so she is learning right along with me. These are her plants to. Not something I am doing on my own or dragging her into against her will... lol

I just got a message from a dedicated super soil user and he is pretty positive I am overwhelming my plants by putting them in straight super soil straight from clone. Next run we will be putting the clones in a quality bagged seedling mix and letting them get some size to them before transplanting them into the nutrient rich SS. I need to let nature happen instead of trying to baby them to death by giving them more than they need right out of the gate.
