5x5 Flowering room

I plan on having a 5x5 flowering room and a 4x4 vegging room.

In a 5'x5' with 6 flowering plants at 2 different stages ( 3 early 3 later flowering) how would two 400watt HPS sound? It seems like an efficient method that would provide more lumens than either a single 600w or 750w all while covering the area better. Are there better methods that you guys can think of at reasonable costs?

Also, whats everyone's opinion on Apollo? Any brand suggestions for the light themselves.

I use a 1000k in a 4x4. If you have two 400's use them, if not why not just buy 1 light. I would rather have the 600 vs two 400's.

i would use the 600 over 2 400's any day, but i would put a 400 mh in with the 600 hps...peace

i used to have exact the same setup for both veg and flower.

800w hid will work in 5x5 but its a little on the low side. myself i used to always have 1000w minimum in my 5x5 and i got my best results using 1200w. altho i had very good ventilation.

if you want a very good option i would say 1000w in 5x5 and 600w in 4x4. myself i went 1200w 5x5 and 400w and i had some preatty good growth.

if u veg in your 5v5 u can use 1x600w untill they get a little bigger.

I dont understand why you need 2 areas as big as that if you are gonna grow 6 big plants tho.. with those areas you should grow perpetual, at least thasts what worked the best for me in gain . and if you really want to grow big plants, you should construct your own rooom and go for the vertical growing style. imho ppl should ALWAYS use vertical light if they have space for that type of growing since its just so much more beneficial. not only that but if you contructs the area yourself insted of using a tent u will get higher ceiling.

600w has the best lummen per watt output out of all hid lights.

Also if you are a new grower you should think about getting a smaller area and try out the growing life before u spend a whole lot of cas on equipment. who knows if you just cant handle growing or if it isnt for you? not meaning to sound like a douche, but life does not always let you grow and/or its not always what you wanted.. Whats also good is giving yourself time to learn growing before having a over 9000 sized grow op.

Having two sources of light would disperse the light to the plants more efficiently to all of the surface area. A 1000W would create more light, but I would rather have the layout of 2 sources. Anyways, I dont think 1000w is really necessary for 6 plants. I can't say that it isn't better, more light is always better, but at a trade off of cost and heat I can live with 800w vs 1000w. There's a simple 20% decrease in electric bills.

BTW I'll be using T5's in my vegging/mother tent.

a 5x5 tent is 2.25 m2 is size. if you take 800/2.25 you get 355w hid per m/2. if you want optimal grow try landing 600w per m2. not saying it wont work, saying what is more optimal. but you are on the right track with using multiple lights. ive had 600w in my 4x4 and it lacks light in the sides. i get the same problem with 1000w in 5x5. best regards

Okay, so with knowing that im legally limited to 6 flowering plants and that half the plants would be younger than the other half, how much area would I really be taking up with this current idea? By area I mean the total area of the plants. I dont think I'll need to cover 2.25m² when those plants probably won't be taking up that much room. Especially considering that half of them are small relative to the other half.

Do you think that 800w would be sufficient with all that in mind? This along with running costs in mind, would adding the the other 400W (2 600w) be really that drastic of a change to make up for the 50% increase in running costs? I really do want the best crop that I can possibly have, but would it be a change that would really be that noticable to quality of harvest?
