One will do. Plus fans for moving air such as oscillating tower fan or pedestal.
Filter>duct>fan>duct.. out of the tent and house.
Optional extra, a variable transformer speed controller or a temperature fan speed controller.

If cost isn't an issue right now, I would get a 6" hyperfan (has remote dimmer) and get a temp./hum. controller to turn the fans on and off. I run my room in the low to mid 80*f (should be high 80*) with CO2. AC is set to 86* and I am not running enough power right now to get there.

one 6 inch centrifugal is enough/heat shouldnt be a major issue but you will need a regular fan or two to move air around the heatsinks and plants. I like putting the filter in a box and vauuming the air out of the tent. With the cobs you could probably just put a hose in towards the top and suck it out straight into the filter, use a hepa like dust shroom and the carbon filter wouldnt mind the air going the wrong way. Im not a fan of carbon filters in the garden space itself because they are in the way.

I have my filter tied up to the top back side of the tent from there it ducts to the hood, through the hood tube to the fan which is on the outside of the tent. The fan vents out to the chimney. It keeps it pretty cool in there. I just need to stop being greedy with my space and allow room for a bigger fan. Not for cooling but for strengthening the stems. I always run out of room so I remove the regular fan and tie the heavy weight stuff from the ceiling using fishing line.
