Hey all. I was starting a custom CFL setup and found this light for 12.99. It's the kind you see in bathrooms. Is a light like this able to be wired so I can run it on a timer in an outlet?

Got it at my local hardware store. I was there to get extension cords and light sockets when I came across this baby

You can do the same with a power strip and add the plugs that have a socket. Then put Y adapters in those sockets and 2 42w in each. You can have at least 6 42s or more for a bigger power strip. And it's easy to reconfigure from 6500k to 2700k.

ILLEGAL - Yea i did get those Y-adapter and so far I have 3 adapters and 6 6500k bulbs. I plan on doing two sockets worth of 2700k.

JOE CAMEL - Did you have those wired to a plug and outlet? If so, did you have to use the 3 prong cords?

This fixture is going to make everything about setting up easier.

all you have to do to get this to work off of a timer is wire it up with a plug and plug into your timed power source by the way nice find ill be lookin for one of these now seems much easier than what i made but hey i was high when i did it lol

Another thing... It says chrome finish and I know that mirrors are terrible to use as a reflecting agent, but i want to know if I should put aluminum foil on it and not have the chrome showing.

alum foil is worse than anything the chrome will not hurt anything it will act. help you reflect light the reason mirrors dont work is the lumens are lost in the piece of glass in front of the reflective surface of a mirror. with chrome the surface is the reflective part

I thought that al. foil was a decent reflector? Its no mylar, but will it work for low budget reasons? As in the area will be lined with it.

Damn. Ok my budget isn't super tiny but mylar is expensive. I know emergency blankets get used by people. Is this a better alternative to the foil?

yes it is i just added this to my grow cab today i picked it up a wally world for like under three bucks i bought 2 but only needed one. tried taping it and that was kinda hard so i just used a stapler and stapled it to the wall it worked much better that way

Good deal. See I have a closet that's bigger than the light fixture I got so I'm thinking about putting up plywood to keep as much light in as possible. I could do that as you with stapling it. Just some extra input needed, height is no problem but my area is (if I don't make 'walls') 59" by 15". How many plants could fit in an area like this? I'd like to get as many as would grow comfortably and if I have to add more lights and use the entire area I can do that. I'd really like to get 6 plants total but I think they might be a little tight. *shrug* need to get plans in the works to get these goin. (also +rep for all your input)

well lookin at it as one plant per square foot you get almost get 5 but you would be an inch short. id say you get could 4 in there and grow them big or you could do a sog and make it into two chambers one for flower and one for veg depends on what you wanna do really if you wanna veg for a while go with four if you wanna get small amounts of bud more often go with a 2 part cab and veg and clone then flower the clones in small pots and jamm a few in there every week till you eventually get plants coming out as new ones go in.
