6 weeks growing issue

My plant is about 6 weeks old. Some of it's first leaves have a weird sort of crinkled upward curve to them.

I let that go but now some of the newer leaves are doing that. There is also some slight purpling on the tops of the stems that correspond to the odd shaped leaves. There is also a tiny bit of yellowing at some of the tips of non-upward turned leaves.

I started with bad soil which gave me a fungus gnat problem pretty much right from the beginning. Bad soil as in organic potting soil i bought from my damned local grocery store like a total newb.

I have been very careful not to overwater and have even let the soil get almost bone dry a few times. This was recommended for fungus gnat issues as swampy dank sort of fungus prone environments are what the gnats want. I am treating the fungus gnat issue with diatomaceous earth. That is the visible white junk on the soil.

I waited for 5 weeks before I added any nutes. The stuff I added is called dynamite premium fertilizer. It seems to add 3 tsp. to a 6"-1 gal. pot which is what I am using roughly. I actually used way less than that when I put the pellets in because I didn't want to mix to much with the diatomaceous earth layer I am laying down every couple of days.

I am growing up a 150 watt hps bulb. Here are some pics.

My theory is that I am experiencing a PH or nutrient issue of some kind. I think I need to move to the plant to a bigger pot too and give her better soil.

Bonus question.... can you guys tell the gender from these pics? I can't...

The plant seems health it can even stand without being tied to the stick I used to need to use. The stem is strong and I notice each day it is still growing. A little more leaves and progress are visible if you pay attention between the morning and the evening.

I am using a 18/6 timer for the lights. I hope this is enough info.

Ok.. It seems like magnesium deficiency. But I think I killed my plant today...

I transplanted it to another pot (losing some roots in the process) I also foiler fed with epson salt mix, and then I hit it with gnonat, this kind of non poison gnat killer...

Did I over react and do to much? She looks all wilty and sad now.
