600 vs 1000

Ok so I've seen this debate a million times on here, and I am not sure yet what to do...ill be doing 20 to 30 plants...which is better 3 600 watts or 2 1000 watts...I've heard that ill acctually get better lumens from the 600s then the 1000s...is that true??...andddd what are the best nutrients to use...I've heard advanced nutrients...but my buddy says general hydro is the way 2 go....helppppp

well a 600w hps is like 100000 lumes and i think the decent 1000w lights are bout 150000 lumes so its about the same, you get the same lumes from 3 600w bulbs (1800w total) as you get from 2 1000w lights(2000 total watts) so the 600w lights are a tad more efficient and im just gunna leave it at that, leave this thread, and not come back to see the potential flame war this could be......

which do u think will be easiest? more smaller lights gives versatility but fewer bigger lights could be simpler

2 1000w with the dual spectrum HPS bulbs by hortilux would be my choice. Actually exactly what I'm running. Then if you need more hang 400 or 600 hps lamps vertically with no hood down in between your plants to help penetrate the canopy. That's a little high budget but the two thousands with those dual spectrums rock my fucking socks. Also try to get the xxl super wide and flat hoods. Thousands put out a lot of light so a large hood spreads it around really well.

Im with revolution on the 1000 watters. You just cant beat them, they penetrate alot better than the 600 and you get bigger harder buds. Im an advanced nutrient fan you just cant go wrong with it but botanicare also has a good product line as well.

my buddies lettin me use that exact hood right now, but im runnin a 600 in it. i know itd be more efficient to run a 1000 but its workin well so far.

side note: 600s usually give out between 70000-90000 lumens

ya i always hear mis reviews...but in our hobby there is no right or wrong theres just to many variables...and capman whats better an or bontanicare...i am running a simple bubble system

Yep, around 140,000 lumens for a 1000 watt bulb and around 85,000 lumens for a 600 watt. Around 40,000 lumens, that's a pretty big jump. I also think there are more bulbs available in the 1000 watt range. The 1000 watt bulbs are also cheaper.


Plus I just read in two weeks they are coming out with a 1000 watt bulb that only uses 250 watts, can you believe that ?

No one has stated heat issues. 1000 puts out about twice as much heat has a 600. The adjusted height above the product also has a factor, you can bring a 600 closer to the product than a 1000 thus effected lumen to source to about the same or close to it (How many lumens get to the product per min), If you look at the distance to lumens chart both can be utilized to almost the same lumen/distance output, but the 1000 gives off more heat in the process.

That's what I was going to say until I saw your post. Heat can be a more difficult to manage issue than people realize. If you're not cooling the room with an A/C then you're going to have to utilize air cooled hoods, exhaust fans, cool tubes, light movers or some combination. Also, don't forget, all of these things have a set electrical requirement. Whatever you do, just make sure you don't exceed the amount of amps you have available, or you'll have to make some compromises and it won't be pretty.

Yeah but thousands are the only bulbs with both spectrums in one bulb. You get the benefit of ALL THE COLORS the sun puts out from each bulb. And really, can fans aren't that expensive you should have one for the carbon filter anyways if you're running this much and growing that much. If they made these in sixes I'd say yeah go for them. Unless maybe you get one of the sixes as mh but then you want to move it around it's not being produced from the same source as the hps

Hey bubble if you have the money i would rock AN. Botanicare is a solid line but i get bigger yeilds out of the AN line. I run the sensi A and B as my base for the first two weeks then i run the connoisseur for the rest of the cycle. But the thing with the conni is you take the light feeding schedule off of their website and reduce it by 20%. You do this because it is such a strong formula that you will burn your plants. But the yeild increase for me from botanicare to AN was like 10-15%. Really its all personal preference and what you can afford.

Ya price isnt an issue as much for me...I am with you in looking for quality and yield,,,and ya the consi is what i ended up ordering...my only thing with AN is they are wayyy to big headed...when i called and asked them to compare to bonti they basically laughed like ohhh were the shit...lol...which quite possibly they are...but as you said some of it is personal prefence....i also went with the 600s...theres 2 many problems that can occur with the 1000s esp since i am in the desert....ive got some very sweet ass clones my buddy gave me....bubblegum lol i know cliche with my name....blueberry...and lemon haze...so it should be intresting to see how things turn out....i am waiting on alot on order and the clones wont be ready for 10 to 14 days....i iwll keep everyone posted....my next dilema which i will be posting in my next forum is should i do bubble or aero...thanx cap and everyone else for your help

Yur welcome bubble. The 600s will do good for your set up because they are a very efficient bulb. As for your dilema i run aeroponics myself and i love it. I have done soil and hydro in the past but the aero for me is much faster all around. One thing that you need to do is make sure you run the sensi a and b for the first two weeks like i said before you start on the conni. (this is very key to the success of the crop and remember to take the light feeding schedule and reduce by 20% because you dont want to burn your little babies). I also do run some botanicare products with my advanced line as well. If you would like i can give you a list of the products i have had success with and the schedule i feed them. It always helps to have someone who knows the products help out. I was in the same boat as you so if you have questions ill be happy to help. I love it when others succeed. I like seeing others succed just as much if not more than watching my stuff grow.

ive decided to switch over to advance nutrients, anyone use AN? feeding schedule? mixing tarantula & parana?

ya i used terantula and perana and wasnt super impressed. i actually considered taking advantage of their warranty and gettin my money back.
