Hey,

Awile ago when I was picking up photography I got two lights from Henry's(it's a high end camera store) I bought two light stands and two light bulbs.

The light bulb is called a SB-85 I believe and is meant to give out daylight quality light. I was reading up on it and this is what I found for the description:

The SB-85 fluorescent bulb is a rugged light bulb. It has 5200k daylight quality light. It delivers 6000/ft lumens equals 550W of incandescent bulb but without the heat. It rates for 8000 hours. CRI value is 82 with proper reflector on.

Now my question is: I have two of these with stands, would these work for growing? it only has 8000 hours per bulb and I've probably used maybe 100 hours on them so far.

Ideally you want to use 6500k for vegging your plants and 2700k for flowering. Those lights will be producing a large amount of unused light spectrum.

If I had to guess I would say they would work for a vegging stage, but once you got to flowering you would definitely need to get some soft white spectrum bulbs. All in all its not too much to get though, if you were interested in growing you could buy like 3 2700 and 4 6500 to start you off for not too much at all.

I'd use them for veg, a mixed spectrum in all stages is desirable.

so i decided to just pick up some "workshop lights" I have 4 bulbs that are 35 watts each and kick out 2700 lum, and 6500k, so a total of 10800 lumens, I want to veg about 4 plants at a time, I want my plants to grow big enough to get some decent yield off each one, what do you guys think?

EDIT: To flower I have a 600W HPS
