600w FogPonics : RainForest 66 (converted) (Hollands Hope, Durban Poison, VooDoo)

Ok, so I am sitting here in front of the computer doing nothing, and thinking about my grow, or the next step of my grow I should say. I just got done playing with a 12v CPU fan I will be using for the conversion... but I am getting ahead of myself.

------------------------------------
Growing Background

I have done 4 successful organic grows under 250w, 2 successful organic grows under 2x 125w CFL + 250w HPS, and a 12/12 from seed hydroponic grow with the RainForest 66 unit, and a 600w HPS. The last wasn't as successful as past ventures, I won't go into all the reasons for failure, but I believe my biggest reason was standing water in the unit, not enough movement of water, and some clogging of the pump.

While Looking for a new idea for my grow, I came across a video on YouTube by a guy named FogGrower, who did a Fogponic grow in a 20 gallon tub. He had some amazing results, and it got me thinking, I could do a conversion on my RainForest 66 unit, and really use it RainForest style, with Fog...

--------------------------------
The Plan

Here is my plan in thought, and word... pictures will come tomorrow when I do a little shopping and get the last few things I need.

Ok, so I already have the tent, a 600w HPS (which is currently growing 4 organics in 3 gallon pots 12/12 from seed), with good ventilation, air cleaning, and CO2 boost system. I also have the RainForest 66 Aeroponic unit.
I have ordered 2x Fogger with US Adaptor and they have been shipped out yesterday. Those will go into a 5 Gallon Bucket, with my Nutrients. Attached to the lid of the five gallon bucket will be a short stack (will probably ghetto rig something) with a 120mm super quiet 12v fan that I just got done rewiring to work with the system, this will blow air through, forcing the fog through the other opening in the lid. This other opening will be plugged with a heavy duty rubber grommet, and will have an RV Heavy Duty Sewer hose connecting the bucket / reservoir to the center of the RainForest 66, instead of having the standard Vortex Sprayer in the center. The RainForest reservoir will fill with fog, and all will be well.

Now the RainForest unit will also need a little bit of redneck ingenuity, as I will show in pictures tomorrow. I want to get away from having ANY standing water near the roots, so I will need to ghetto engineer a new bottom to this unit, and I am too stoned to describe it in words right now, but you will see it come together in pictures tomorrow so...

----------------------
The Goal

I recently purchased THESE seeds online through Attitude, much love to the for their past services, and hopefully this one as well. The strains (in case you were too lazy to read the title of this post, or click the link) are Hollands Hope, Durban Poison, and Voodoo. I only plan on doing one of each in the converted RainForest 66 to start with. I will be working with tying them down very young, and bushing them as quickly as possible, because they will be 12/12 from seedling, just like everything else I grow.

I think the foggers will be on a timer... and only on during the daylight cycle, but have to do more research on that. I am basically posting my thoughts as a sounding board to you all, and of course will be updating quite frequently as to my progress through the whole thing.

For nutes I will be using General Hydroponics 3 part system that came with my RainForest, CalMag (when and if needed), and Super Thrive (I love this shit). I will be using at the most 1/2 strength on the nutes, I will be running the nutes through only one time, once the fog is used, it is used, and drains to a drip pan. At what rate, well that still remains to be seen.

-------------------------
Concluding the First Post

This is going to be a project in progress, and will be happening around 4 organic plants as well, in my 3 x 3 growtent. I will post pictures here and there, with detailed updates, and hope you all ask many many questions and give lots of help throughout.

So I didn't do anything with the grow today, cept water the organics. I didn't feel like leaving the house (hash does that to me)... so I sat and thought. I'm sitting here thinking about my strains, the ones I ordered. Since I ordered from the 'tude on the Nov giveaway weekend, I got a bunch of freebies.

-------------------------------
Ordered :
2x Dutch Passion Hollands Hope
2x Dutch Passion Durban Poison
2x Dutch Passion Voodoo

Freebies :
1x fem CH9 Bubba Kush 33
1x fem CH9 White Shark 33
1x Barneys Farm Pineapple Chunk
1x Greenhouse Seeds Super Lemon Haze
2x reg DNA Genetics LA Confidential

So, do I stick with the grow I had planned? Or do I substitute one for something else? Opinions?

thats alot of freebies, you made out nice
The choice is yours,I would try and group them by feeding requirements

Well then i guess that brings me to my next question, where can I find a reliable site for feeding requirements for different strains?

Well that only comes by research or experience....
try researching if certain strains are heavy feeders.....
but growing whichever ones and seeing how they react together would be best...

Well, from experience I know that the Super Lemon Haze is going to be durable... and a high yielder. But the other ones I will have to research, because I was hoping to use the Super Lemon Haze for an outdoor grow next season.

I have a hollands hope mother that was in dwc, but it went to shyte. Took it out and planted her in some soil before she died...rebounded in no time. short, bushy, it smells more like fresh veg rather than cannabis but that could easily be because it is still in veg. tried putting a few clones of it out this summer, but they got ripped off. cant wait to see how your turns out.

Still waiting on the foggers I ordered from Hong Kong, so... there is that, but a lot has been accomplished.

I went to Walmart and got a 10' RV Sewer Hose, 2 couplers, 2 big rubber grommets, and 2 hose clamps. 20 bux spent. Put it all together, took 5 minutes. Went and got 10 yds of reflective tape (3 bux), taped my seams, everywhere I do not want to have fog leakage. I took a couple cheap bathroom garbage bags and some Mighty FixIt tape and sealed the three 6 inch pots I am not using, that way if I decide to plant more, or change them out, or anything, it will be sealed, but not with anything that will leave a mess if I need to use that part of the unit.

I took the top cover of a spool of CD's, cut out the top, and mounted the 120mm fan on it with Silicone. I drilled two 2 1/2 inch holes in the lid of the five gallon bucket. One I put a bead of silicone around, and mounted the fan unit, the other I opened up to 3 1/2 inches, and plugged it with one of the big rubber grommets. I attached the hose to both grommets. My Air Circulation is done.

I then took the lid of a 50 gallon RubberMade container, and cut out the hexagon size and shape of the bottom of the Rainforest unit. That was placed at the bottom on the inside of the Rainforest, to be sealed, and shaped so I can use the pre-existing water lvl whole for a drain... there are some pictures that kinda help explain, but when I finish the heat and shape, and update the pics, you will understand better.

Anyways, here are some pics, and this quick update of my conversion of a RainForest 66 Aeroponic unit, to a RainForest 36 Fogponic unit.

Pool Floaty Tube, with extra holes in for air/water circulation, and root growth. I have used them for many grows, and they are great, because they don't absorb anything, and the roots grow right through them.
