600W hps vs 1000w hps light socket

I would like to upgrade my 600w hps digital ballast to a 1000w digital ballast and bulb. My question is this. Can I just replace ballast and bulb by 1000w ballast and bulb without changing the hood. In other words, can I screw a 1000w bulb into the hood that came with my 600w, do 600w and 1000w bulbs have the same size threads?

shouldn't be a problem, unless it is a really small enclosed hood that can't take the extra heat from a 1000

Yes you can. I upgraded from a 600 to a 1000w and I just screwed my 1k hps bulp in the regular hood that came with my 600w. You just cant use a 1k bulb on a 600w ballast. Just make sure everything is the same Brand so you don't have anything diff far as wire ends.

Only way this wont work is with a hydrofarm (3 peg) cable, in which case, an adapter can be used to make it a standard "S" type plug every other ballast uses.

This is like the 10%, 90% chance u are good to go, swap ballast n bulb, n ur set.
