6x6 DWC, 2x bruce banner 3x TRU OG in 7 gallon buckets!

Hey guys. New to this forum but not to growing! Been doing DWC for about 14 years now. Decided to come back to the forums and share / learn ! Anyway here is a break down of my grow room.

6x6 tent 210d mylar.
7x 7 gallon buckets
6inch net pots
Econo air 3 commercial air pump with 6 way valve
850cfm vortex 8inch exhaust fan “not visable”
650cfm hurricane 6 inch intake fan.
15 inch oscillating fan
6 inch heavy duty computer fan “ air pump cooler”
2x 10 inch ground fans
12000 BTU Portable AC “not being used”


I vegged under 400w MH lights and added more lights until i had 3 “1200w total”. Veg cycle was 80 days, way longer than i usually do but i wanted to fill the tent and im going to enter this bud into our local cannabis cup this year so i wanted to give the plants / genetics every opportunity to produce.

Currently running
1000w air cooled HPS and a open air 400w MH @4000k

Heres what 3 weeks of growth under 1200w of MH looks like! Keep in mind these plants are topped dozens of times, super cropped , LST ‘d you name it . I used every trick in the book over the 80days.

The reason for the smaller buckets was i was going to flip the lights quick but decided to go big in 7 gallon buckets instead .

Heres what the plants looked like at the end of their 80 day veg cycle.

Nutrients ! I run advanced nutrients for pretty much everything. Ive tryed other stuff and it just doesent work as good for me ‍♂. This is parts i used for VEG . I still need to pick up a few things for flower cause im out but im not doing a res swap until Wednesday so you can expect a update after then.

Advanced has a formula u can follow / calculator . I dont. I find their measurements to be considerably stronger than what i need and its easier to monitor the plants and what my reservoirs are doing if im picking what % of what goes in. I wouldent recommend this unless you know DWC, know your plants and how to read them and know what ec/ppm / ph changes mean what.

If anyone wants more specifics on my feeding feel free to ask .

This is where i currently am in the grow . Almost a week into flower. just about to do my first nutrient change of the flowering cycle “my res changes were poorly timed so the first couple days Of flower have been on a veg mix still”

Im Trying my best not to trim anything . My plants would usually be defoliated alot more going into flower, but i have alot of light and alot of airflow so im not going to do another defoliation Until i have too. The poc i will upload here of leaves on the floor are the last leaves i took off today just to expose a few bud sites .

All the roots are bright white. Im usually rootbound in 5 gallon buckets by the end of a grow, so im hoping the 7s can get the job done. The back middle plant has a small root system so i dont expect it to yeild much.

Just a couple of cool shots .

Nutrients were at around 900 PPM for the big plants and 750 for the smaller ones. Ill be hitting them with the same strength but a different mix for flower. Will post pics and info when i change them this week.

Im am Only running 5, 7 gallon buckets, not 7x.

I changed my mind yet again. Pulled the 400w metal halide out and decided to go bigger

I ordered 15x T5HO bulbs @ 3000k. 12 are going in as side / supplemental lighting hanging horizontally in the tent. This should assure every inch of these plants gets what it needs for light.

After these are put in, my room will be 1720w of flower power on 5 plants / 2 strains. I vegged on 1200w of MH so thats fair.
Bulbs should arrive tomorrow. I uploaded a pic of the output of the bulbs. 5000lumens each .

U can see in the pics where im going to hang the T5s beside the row of plans with the HPS staying in the middle overhead. Cant wait to see what these flowering t5s look like .

Just a few pics of one plant i grabbed while doing nute/res changes. U can really see my low stress training and super cropping in some of these pics . This is the second biggest plant in the room btw.


The other pic is just how it looks right now as i wait fir the T5 flowering bulbs to show up.

Chopped and removed from grow room sadly . Thats what I get for going with local genetics. I should have known better .

3x tru Og is still going strong though.

My bulbs came in.

Instead of running to ballasts 6 bulbs each and doing side lighting , im going to run one single 12 bulb ballast overhead . Should be around 60000 lumens @ 3000k in a 4x2 square. Im going to air cool the hood too. That should keep the heat from 12 t5s in check and allow me to get close. Or atleast keep it level with my air cooled HPS

This is a custom ballast im building, will post pics when im done. Back in the day before LEDs were even popular or before COB were even a thing, i used ti build custom flowering LEDs for people using osram sections so building lights doesn't scare me

So the 12 bulb ballast is going to take me some time to fabricate to look nice with a reflector and staggered bulbs. I opted to just throw two 6 bulb units in the room and let them shine.

When its warm outside, i have to much heat inside the room so i have to run my AC. It keeps the room cool without breaking a sweat.

When its cold like it is now, i can run both T5HOs AND the 1000w HPS and sit around 70-75F off of just intake air. All of my adjustments are done by hand / dimmer switches so i need to check the room alot to stay on top of the temps with how the weather has been “lots of fluctuation”.

Im just starting to see bud sites now on the plants . Should still be a decent harvest.

These are from sunday morning in the room. Ill update again in friday “21 days or 3 weeks “ then i wont be doing many more updates until harvest !
