80 watts of flourecent 3 plants?

i have 2 40 watt cool white flourecent tubes, growing
3 plants about 6 inches away from the lights,
Will the plants grow? and produce about 3 ounces all togother?
i NEED help.
Im very poor. so dont suggest any crazy shit. Just inexpensive ways that could help my cause

Welcome to RIU.Might try some CFLs,Theres a hole thread about fluros,and CFLS with somewhat good resuts.

You can veg under your present rig. Line the plants up side-by-side and get that light everything but on top of them. Start scanning your local craigslist for "shop lights" and look at the used HPS fixtures that are flooding the US as energy compliant fixtures replace. There is a thread here on using these lights. They run about $20 with a used 400 watt HPS bulb but way better than what you have. Make sure it is already wired for 115 or learn how to do it yourself. New HPS bulbs ordered on Amazon run about $23 for this type.

thanks guys, ill get some CFL lights at home depot, in tampa thats the only place that has them., Im not trying to get enormous yeilds. I just have noone to buy from, sense i just moved here. so im going to try and grow my own personal use
There cool white tubes, so i think that they can touch the plants, and it shouldnt cause any harm.
i have 21 seeds, so eventualy ill invest in a few HPS's, but as of now, i dont have the money
Ohh, and Alluminum foil? or trashbags or any ideas to reflect light?
Im growing them in my bathroom.
the tempature now is 74 degrees
As of right now its only 80 watts between 2 plants, which is shitty, but should work for a few weeks, until i can get my hands on some Cfls

I agree with everyone you need more light. I grow three plants at a time and I use 680 watt actual CFL with a mixed spectrum of 2700 and 6500 Homed Depot has 40 watt actual CFL for around 10.00 each. With respect to how much bud you'll get I get a little over an oz each plant on average.Happy Growing and may all of your harvests be bountiful.

hey when u get a little morre cash eastwesthydro.com or goodhydro.com is where i buy all my big equiptment for dirt cheap they also have some nutrient starter packs for 20-30$ and thatll be he 2nd best thing you can do after lighting

I'd say go to your local hydro shop and pick up some Fox Farm ocean forest its like $20 for 1.5 cu ft ~28 pounds in my local hydro shop, but if u have to shop at homedepot for soil make sure its not time release soil.

While your there get some Fish emulsion for Veggin stinks to allget out even the new with winter green oil,but its cheap and wont burn.Second the FFOF

Welcome to the wonderful world of growing. I understand growing on a budget and you can get some nice veg off them cfl's. It's how I started. I also had a homemade 250 watt hps given to me lol.
for home depot soil get a potting soil mix. I understand ffof is probably too expensive if your on a tight budget. Look at the diy section and you can get some cheap ideas.

and theres only 1 homedepot potting soil you can get thats even remotely qualified for growing it comes in a white back with a blue or red label im pretty sure its kellogg brand its called Gardner and Bloome $8-10 a bag but i havent come across it yet.
there are reviews of people using it with pretty good results its recommended from some top growers
that person who told u potting soil is retarded cuz if u buy miracle grow you are doomed
A plant is only ass good as its soil/nutes
thats the only budget weed soil i know that works

Find a Local Garden Store. The will have Good soil, far less expensive than FF. Read up on Amendments!

Hey bullwinkle, I'm planning to start a grow real soon and was considering a mixed spectrum as well 2-3 plants 500-600 actual watts CFL. Are you running the same combo from veg to flo or do you run more 6500 for veg and more 2700 for flo? I would appreciate the help.

This is good advice imo. For cheap nutes, avoid fancy stuff like that linked above, and go with ordinary stuff. If you use good soil, you won't need to feed during veg at all. During flower, something with P in it, like bloom/fruit food, or bone meal if you want to lean toward organic.
Also, amend whichever soil you get with powdered dolomite lime. This is cheap, easy pH protection, and also a magnesium supplement. bitches loves them some magnesium. cn
