12 foot ceiling is cool. I’d probably go for a light with higher intensity if I had that much height to work with. The strip builds are a great way to get a lot of LEDs for a great price, but they’re mostly driven about 60% of the strip’s capacity. Not saying that’s the only way, just the strips are more efficient at lower wattages and people run a good amount of strips off one driver usually. You could use heat sinks and pump the strips up with more watts too. Most of the strips are one spectrum, like 5000K, 3500K, so you would have to buy a mix of strips to match some boards. I really thought about doing a strip build but in the end I went with a diy board kit. Great spectrum and lots of watts.

With that kind of headspace i would go with the timber fatty vs, but its a little more than the 800 budget. Their cypress 8 would be close after the riu discount and is 725w

I swear I thought I gave you a strip option that would work before?? But you couldn't believe that it was good enough. Lol.

why don't you go halfway in between and get a HLG kit.
The QB96 can be ran as high as 224W. I'd be getting 4 of those and dimming down to 60-80%

you could end up with a ~1000W LED under $500.
$69ea minus RIU discount. And buy some drivers off Digi-Key or arrow or mouser or future electronics.

I'd do it with 6-8 qbs, if you driver them so hard you lose efficiency and thermals get more complicated. 2 per 240 driver is quite ideal; 3 sets in total. Or even 9 boards in 3x3 config; 4 corners on 2x240 drivers, and centre 5 on a 320 driver. This last version gives you nice control of intensity with extra power and separate drivers for the corners, which is where you have less crosslight and need some extra.
The good thing about building with these is that it's easy to adapt to any space further down ahead and the qb96 comes complete with sinking for about 60$.

The F series use the Lm561C I think which is still a great diode.

I used bridgelux strips. I think the 3000-4000 spectrum is good (I used 3500K) and good bang for the buck $10/strip for a 4 footer. They are very efficient and I am personally very pleased with my results.

HLG makes great lights so I don't question they would grow equally as good bud. But definitely not for the same price.

Definitely diy...... Some blux strips , new gen will crush that space with that budget
Thats whata wanted tohear. Yeah id expect to be able to exeede companys they tend to hold back for updates or even not choose most practicle designs for everyone its like a universal fit eh.

Beidgelux strips i have an old 10yr old head on saying blux is budget?
3500k is a perfect spectrum in my eyes. But isnt it better to get a mix? Or are them strips designed alredy mixed ?

Midnight do you have a build thread you followed or did u have one yourself.
Some reason i cant get to peoples post or see sigs. trying to see if u got diarys n guides . Bloody phones

Dya have any pics of ya grow bud im intrigued

I didn't follow a build thread but they all work the same. It was difficult at first trying to wrap my head around everything.

I made this thread here building my light last year.

this is my grow thread

I recently got my some of buds from the LED only harvest tested last week. This was the pink kush
Had some lockout problems and way early yellowing snd the girls still pulled through ok.

They have 5x5 bar leds there using blux or f series .

Id just wana make sure i guess my 2 600hps i used to use are blown away lol.
My current leds dont near match them.

You can follow the bridgelux 5x5 design. But buy the eb Gen 3 model strips and it will be an automatic upgrade in efficiency 175LM/W vs 186 LM/W. on the strips. I also don't really like the way he used different size drivers. But if you need a design to follow to the T I don't think you'll be disappointed with that setup.
