Okay I almost have enough $$$ saved to make the move to socal but I was hoping that someone could give me an accurate estimate of what my energy fees will be monthly for an 8000 watt "sealed" grow with a 3 ton mini split a/c??? I will not be venting my lights; the room will not have any in or out vents and I will be using all the usual items such as dehumidifier, co2 gen, fans, sulfur burner. The region I'll be staying in will be north san Diego county. So can you guys please help me estimate what my electric bill will be? I will also be living at the grow so all the usual energy use as well along with the grow. Thanks guys I can really use the help.

Just figure out your total wattage, then go to the electric company's web page and see what they charge per kilowatt hour, second or third tier, and then do the math. It's pretty easy.

Take wattage, multiply it by the number of hours used, divide by 1000, and then multiply by your local price per kWh, which we'll say is $0.143

For example: 13,000 watts times 24 hours = 312,000.
312,000 divided by 1000 = 312.
312 times 0.143 = 44.616
44.616 = $44.62

So if you were running 13,000 watts 24 hours per day, and the local electric company was charging 14.3 cents per kWh, it would cost you $44.62 per day to run your setup.

Yeah I gotcha but with so many variables involved I was hoping that someone from the area with a similar grow could chime in and give me a figure. I'm not discounting your feedback, I appreciate it but you just can't say for sure how often and for how long the a/c or dehumidifier are going to engage, though of course I know for sure that 8k watts will be on for 12 hrs each day. Also as far as I know most utilities charge a diff rate for peak and non-peak hrs which are usually determined by the time of day or how many kwh you have used. So this is why It's not so cut and dry and I really need the HP of someone who already lives there and knows. Basically I'm trying to determine how much more cash I need to save until its safe for to move. I've saved what I need for my gear and the first six months rent and all my usual monthly bills but this is one thing I'm unclear about.

I usually figure $100/month for every 1000 watt light. This covers the lighting, A/C, fans, etc...This figure works pretty good on my current grow. I'm running 18 - 1000 watt lights and my bill is just under $2,000/month. It's a rough number, but will get you close enough for budgeting.

So for us small timers $10 a month per 100 watts. That is why I did not notice the 2 florescent tubes just replaced the over heads. I just had budget billing stopped.
