Week 3
Switching light cycle to 12/12 for the next 4 weeks. The last 3 weeks of flower, I will gradually reduce light by 1 hour weekly. Im curious to see what happens.


I top dressed half a tablespoon of 4-4-4 pellets last Sunday. Today I noticed some of the lower fan leaves starting to fade on three of the plants. Im going to top dress 1 teaspoon of blood meal today.
Watering 1 cup every other day. All the plants are really liking that schedule and portions.

Amnesia Haze x Sour Strawberry
The Amnesia Haze stretched more than the other plants. Pretty surprised by that. Both Amnesia plants were significantly smaller than the rest, yet now they are they tallest. I will be keeping a cut of this plant for a while. It is super stable and practically impossible to induce rhodelization through any form of stress. I put the mom through the ringer and she kept growing undisturbed. Also, the terps are one of my favorites. Sandalwood and citrus. Its such a simple and delicious terp profile.
I made F2 seeds but I harvested the plant a little too early. So the seeds look premature. I'm going to flower clones of both dad & mom of the Amnesia Haze to make better seeds. The Amnesia male is incredibly vigorous, but it did throw female pistils when I light stressed it. Ideally, the father plant should not do this. My plan is to find a stable male in the F2 lot, to continue refining this strain. I dont have a name for it yet.
Both MTF and Valley Ice males that ive kept, do not throw female pistils when I light stress them. This is a simple way to test a male and see if it is stable or not. Incidentally, I successfully pollinated two small branches of the Amnesia with my purple Valley Ice male. Curious to see what happens.

Males can herm. Although, it isn't as obvious. You will notice only a few pistils on a male that herms.

Week 4 on 12/12
All of the plants are drinking 1cup of water a day. Half a cup in the tray, half a cup for top soil. Im trying a different method of watering to see if it makes a difference. I top dressed half a tbsp of 4-4-4 pellets today.

The SFV OG seems to be Nitrogen monster. Large Fan leaves are fading. The blood meal has broken down, and the new growth is darkening. If I decide to run this cut again, I will remember to hit it with 2 tbsp of blood meal in week 1 of flower.

I pollinated a small branch with my purple male. I'm going to stabilizing this strain again, with a vigorous SFV OG male. Its on my list of projects.

The purps is just trudging along. Easy to grow, light feeder.
The Amnesia Haze x Sour Strawberry is looking delicious. Easy to grow, moderate feeder. Really frosty compared to the other plants.
The Amnesia Haze x Purple VI cross pollination is looking great. I will probably end up with 80-100 seeds. I dusted three branches on the smaller plant.

02/16/25

Week 5 on 12/12
Everything is looking good. Plants are liking the watering schedule. 1cup of water every day. Half a cup into the tray and the other half over top soil.
Both SFV OG clones are drinking 2 cups of water a day. The root system must be massive at this point. Ive noticed bananas on both plants, but no seed development. This sterile banana gene is annoying. When this plant was grown in the greenhouse, it did not throw bananas. So, its being caused by some indoor environmental stressor. Not sure what is causing it, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. Its going to take a few years to stabilize this strain again.

The purple VI is also throwing sterile bananas . I did pollinate one bud with SSH. The Silver Haze male that is in the living room finally started dropping pollen. I'm really tempted to run all of the F1 VI x SSH seeds in the greenhouse this year. I have tentative plans to do a sea of green in the greenhouse, testing 200 beans of the F4 VI, but I might split the count 50/50.... 100 F1 PVI x SSH and 100 F4 VI.

Last but not least, the Amnesia is looking happy and on point! I noticed 3-4 seeds developing on the cola, but that is just stray pollen from the controlled pollination that took place 2 weeks ago.

Week 6 on 12/12
Everything is swelling up. The SFV OG reeks of bubble gum
The only exciting thing to report is that the SSH cross pollination was a success. I will probably end up with 40-60 seeds from this purple plant.

The purple plant in the living room is also being pollinated and it will produce over 300 seeds. Those seeds will develop a lot slower because it doesn't receive adequate lighting. The seeds should still finish before its time to start sowing seeds in the greenhouse.

A clone of the deep purple VI has been fully pollinated by SSH male. I have tossed the plant outdoors, so that the environmental stressors impact the embryonic development.

Epigenetic modifications: Environmental factors, such as climate, can induce epigenetic changes in the parent plant's genes. These changes can be passed on to the seed through mechanisms like DNA methylation and histone modification.

Plants can undergo rapid evolution over a few generations in response to strong selective pressures. I have technically been working this strain outdoors for at least 6-7 years. I worked the F2 indoors over the course of 3 years. Totaling almost 10 years of dedication to breeding a fast finishing strain that is well adapted to the PNW.

Week 7
Im reducing light by another 30min.
Forgot to water yesterday, and everything looked a little heat stressed and wilting. LOL!
I top dressed 1 tbsp of 4-4-4 pellets. That will be the last dose they get. I will try to push everything to week 9, but im unsure if they have it in them to go that long.

The SFV OG is starting to foxtail. The colas are looking ridiculous.

The purple is probably one week out. Looks like a fast finisher.

Both of the Amnesia Haze are starting to fade. It seems I over watered both of them last week.



I was in the greenhouse looking at the F4 plants I tossed in there a few weeks ago. 5 out of 6 plants have a deep purple pheno. 1 female, 5 males.
Its going to be super exciting going through the F4 lot. Im going to find some incredible plants.

I was doing some research, and I recently discovered something that reassured my ongoing hypothesis regarding the rodelization (bananas) tendency of the MTF.
A seasoned grower proved that some of the old school skunk genetics are sensitive to high ppfd LED. The scientific explanation as to why this is, remains unknown. I haven't found any credible information regarding this phenomenon. The grower did however demonstrated that flowering under lower ppfd prevented rodelization for the old school skunk that he likes to grow.

Other theories include:
_ when the plant becomes root bound, it triggers rhodelization.
(I am growing plants in small pots, indoors. When I grow them outdoors, they have unlimited space for root growth.)

_ Fertilizers can cause rhodelization as well.


Further research lead me to the agreed consensus that fast flowering genes, (typically associated with the ruderalis variety) tend to produce more sensitive plants in general.

The goal of my breeding project is to produce a fast finishing strain that is well adapted to the PNW. By selecting the fast finishing plants, it is possible that I have unknowingly been breeding plants that are sensitive to One or All of the stressors mentioned above.

The fact is that the female plants I recently selected to produce the F4 lot, do not throw bananas when grown outdoors. Indoors, they are throwing bananas at week 5. The pollen is sterile, which is comforting. However, I must adjust my approach to the selection process.

Growing in the greenhouse: I was planning to select 3-4 plants out of 100. However, I think it would be best if I select 8-12 plants. This increases the likelihood of finding a vigorous, stable, plant that will not throw bananas when grown indoors.
I am thoroughly stress testing the plants I breed with.
** It is really important that this step is not avoided.

Ps. I am resisting the temptation to use technical language, so the laymen benefits from my findings.

Week 8
Reduced light by 30min
All of the plants are slowing down. They are drinking only half a cup a day. There is some fading and a small nute burn. I probably could have finished them off with just half a tablespoon of the 4-4-4. Will take note of this for the next run.

Im going to push everything to week 9 and thats it. Everything is flopping around.
