1 X SEALER BAG,FEW SHEET'S OF KITCHEN OR TOILET ROLL,TAP WATER,2 SMALL T SAUCER'S,SPRAY MISTER. get the seeds of yr choice[femanised]will take away the hassle of haveing to sex the plants when it come's to flowering.Take about 4/5 sheets of the kitchen,t.roll and mist with water till it become's damp not wet through.Make sure that the bottom few roll's to make sure that the seed's have a good platform to germanate,Once the seeds are on the damp roll give the seed one last mist before placeing a few more roll's of the damp roll on top of the seed's.If the water is good enougth for you to drink then it will normaly be fine for the germanation of seed's.Allthough if you have a ph meter of any kind then it won't hurt to use it,i normaly ph the water if needed to around 6.5/7.0.Place the roll in side the sealer bag, this has two function's the main one is to keep the seed's moist till they germante i have never had to add more water once the bag is sealed it keep's moisture in,if you don't have a sealer bag a normal plastic bag sealed with some kind of tape will do.Then place the sealed bag between the two small saucer's,thisis not needed but i do it just for extra protection while they split. After about 3/4 day's check the seeds they will have split but if not re put back into the same place has before and keep a eye on them but they normaly will have split with in this time.Make sure that the seed's are put some where warm to germanate around 25 degree's will be fine.If you open the seed's and the seed has split but the rootlet is onlyvery small you can either put the seed in a small pot of soil or a rockwool cube, but i always leave untill the rootlet is around a few 1/2mm long before putting into any medium.Make sure that the rootlet is faceing down the tail of the rootlet that is.But alot of people put the seed's once split to deep in medium this is not needed just put the seed just below the surface, but make sure that the soil is not to compacted around and on top of the seed.If it is it will take longer for the seed to burst through the grow medium.I like to put the seed's under t5 lighting all though any lighting that is not too hot will do at this stage. Some grower's do not put the seed's under lighting they wait for it to pop though first. This is a practice that i have never done i always use light's this mean's the seed will search out light faster thus giveing you a faster growing plant.Make sure that the grow medium is not too wet just moist poor water onto the soil and leave for the major part of the water to run out.If useing rockwool make sure that you squeeze the excess water out.Put the seedling's in a room around 25/28 and wait within acoupleof day's the will show it's self,it will have the seed still attached leave it on it will protect the head of the new seedling till it's ready to shell it.Good luck and happy growing, remember every grower of cannabis is help to save a plant that goverment's all over the world want to see wiped off the face of the earth,so you are playing a vital rolekeep at it tyke ENJOY............TYKE.....................:leaf:

As long as your seed is viable, it needs just warmth (25 - 30C) and moisture to germinate. As long as that condition is achieved, it matters not a whit whether the seed is in paper towel, rockwool or soil.

Although I do prefer NOT to use paper towel nowadays - I have used it and felt the tiny hairs that have grown into the towel get ripped off - it will be transplanted anyway, so there is no reason whatever not to start seeds off in soil. Kinder to the shoot.

Seeds need neither light nor total darkness to germinate, but sprouts showing green need light straight away.

Agreed, only germ in soil or what ever your going to use. No reason to damage the seedling by moving it or it growing into the paper towel. One thing not mentioned they needs is fresh air. People mess up when the germinate in a closed environment.

Good catch JayRolla - oxygen is the third element required to germinate seeds.
