A/C thermostat question

I want to run a window unit a/c with a duct into my room. I am trying to figure out how to run my thermostat to the room. Has anyone done this or know how I would control the temp with the unit outside the room? I appreciate any advice

first off all, you cant get a thermostat for a window unit unless it a really big one and you dont need one. here you are gonna be the thermostat. get a thermometer in that room near the tip of the plants. when its 82 or above, hit dat a/c.. try not to let it get above 85 and never let it above 90. 72-74 is most desirable

I haven't bought the a/c yet so don't have a pic. I am looking at one at home depot that has a remote for 200 bucks. I can mount it to the wall of the room, but my exhaust is on the same wall, so I was going to run a duct to another wall and keep the unit completley out of the room. I assume the thermostat is on the unit so it won't be effective in controling the temperature in the room. If it is not possible than I will just put it on the wall of the room.
I added some pics.. the first is from inside the room looking at the wall where the a/c and vortex fan will go..second is a pic from the outside..third ignore the fourth is looking along the wall( I will be attaching the vortex to the beam outside the room with the duct running to the lights inside.. ...the last is an ugly drawing of the set-up with the ac on the wall.

Is that confusing enough? lol
