you're claiming that if you ask someone if they're a cop, and they are, then they have to admit to it.

their answer is stating that if someone has already identified themselves as a cop, and you ask for proof that they are a cop, then by law they are required to show proof (a badge)

it's just a big ol' urban legend/myth that they have to say they are a cop if you ask them.

If that were true then undercover cops would be obsolete. Everyone dabbling in illegal activity would ask that question before making deals with a stranger.

Somehow ChaCha doesn't quite have the same credibility as Lexis or Westlaw. No. They are not required to tell you. They aren't SUPPOSED to entice you into doing something that you wouldn't do under normal circumstances (US v John DeLorean), but it happens all the time and the courts will usually uphold it unless the cops are just in gross violation. Entrapment laws have been diluted as much the constitution has.
