a question about air conditioning

my question is this, i was wondering if it is possible to run a mini split a/c unit and at the same time run a carbon filter. will the fan attached to the carbon filter hinder the effectiveness of the a/c unit? how does one remain stealthy while air conditioning the room.

Run the carbon filter just don't hook it up to an exhaust port. The room will stay cool, cause you are not throwing all your cool air out of the room as you are thinking would happen with the filter

strange thats how everyone does it? because befor it would turn the room into a vacuum, the room will no longer be a vacuum with no venting should i be significantly oversizing the carbon filter if it no longer turns the room into the vacuum currently i use a 6" vortex with appropriate sized carbon filter, what size is your setup if you dont mind me asking.

You would need to add CO2 if you turn the fan into a scrubber. I can run either way, but I have 2 filters and 3 hyperfans. I have a small filter attached to a 6" fan for scrubbing and a it is on for 15 mins/off 15. If I am using CO2, the 2 8" fans only kick on if humidity spikes. They are attached to a temp/humidity controller. When the room is to cold, I use a dehumidifier to add heat. All three fans, at my settings, draw less than 150 watts.

You're still thinking of exhausting the room with a filter behind the exhaust fan. To run a scrubber you set up the fan/filter combo in the room with the fan attached to the filter on the pull side but left to just blow the air pulled through the filter around in the room.

im just curious how effective the carbon filter setup in this manner is when the room is no longer a vacuum and the plants are in late flower just need to be sure befor i invest a couple thousand purchasing a proper mini split a/c unit for my room

It isn't that the filter might not be operating at a high enough efficiency but that your space may or may not be sealed well enough to keep stinky air from leaking out.

thats the answer i was looking for, so metal studs and sprayfoam room with a commercial door with a rubber seal would be ideal? so if you go a/c you might aswell go sealed room with co2 controller

Fully sealed or fully exhausted. There is a middle ground but it should only be used to work toward fully sealed if you can't afford to go all out from the beginning.

thanks for the information it allows me to make better more informed decisions i might continue with fully exhausted but tweak it a bit.
i was looking at this product as well looks interesting. you can hook it up to the chiller for your reservoir.

i think i'll just have to separate vents
winter - carbon filter -> fan -> hood -> another floor in building to keep heat inside (high humidity is never a problem)

then in the summer i assume with an icebox setup humidity will rise due to the heat being absorbed by the water i'll go
summer - carbon filter -> fan -> icebox hooked to chiller -> hood -> vent outside

I haven't heard anything too impressive about water cooling. You can still run an ac and exhaust you'll just want to exhaust much slower. It can be set up to work well it just isn't as efficient.
