Sticky me.

The calculator is an excel spreadsheet (within the zip file since rollitup doesnt permit .xls files for some reason). Change the $0.12 to your electric rate. If you see 0.11 on your utility bill for the rate add a penny to account for taxes and meter fees etc...

Its pre-set at $0.12 and has ranges from 100 watts of usage to 20,000 watts of usage already in a graph format.

Enjoy.

***** UPDATED ***** Download "electricity calculator 12-24hrs.zip" and it includes auto calculation for 12 hour and 24 hour cycles.

Ur spreadsheet is based on usage of lights on 24hrs a day.. So its only good for those using CFLs in the early veg stage. I use MH 16hr a day wen in Veg, and HPS 10 hours a day wen im flowering, so the figures u provide are ll wrong for the average grower.. Sorry but no sticky here..

Its based on watts used per day. If you use the watts for 12 hours a day, then divide by two. :)

This is pretty cool. It showed me that I can just move the decimal so 615 watts for the flower box is .615kw/h x 12hours x electric rate, and the same for the veg box but used 18 hours.

The thing that must be remembered is that most electric bills are billed on a scale. The "baseline" is what is billed at the regular rate which is close to $0.12/kwh. Then the kwh that exceed the baseline are billed at an additional charge based on the % above baseline. For me I would exceed the baseline if I was not even here it is so low. Once I started growing, I saw a new line on my bill "201%-300% baseline" which is billed at $0.24/kwh. The amount in this catagory (276kwh for Oct.) is very near my usage so I calculated with the 24 cent rate.

This allowed me to calculate cost per day for veg and flower and the combined cost per day x 63 days/6 flowering plants = $32 per plant for electricity at harvest. So with all the other spending the cost to grow is still probably under $2 a gram....nice perspective:bigjoint:
