a tall mom

My mother plant is getting too damn tall for my veg room. If i keep her in veg, will she just keep growing taller or will she eventually stop upwards growth? How else can i keep her short? Topping the plant, is that just gonna slow down her upwards growth or stop it? I had her under 2 x 26 watt clfs and as a result i decided to take off one of the cfls to try n slow growth. Height is an issue.

LST - Acronym for Low-Stress Training, the technique of manipulating the branches in order to reduce plant height, expose certain branches to light, and/or distribute hormones to lower branches of the plant to encourage larger buds.

Sry i could'nt help more but im trying to work all this out myself..

Ok for moms your gonna need to top the plant several times over time.My indicas hit about 5 feet as moms then I like to top the plant to about 4 feet. This will slow height for a while but thye will bush out and fill in.You will have to top as needed less light is gonna make them stretch and gett taller and weaker so taking light away just added to your troubles and makes the plant weaker and falls over

If You Top The Plant; You Will Stop Upward Growth On The Main Stem But The Branches Will Grow Towards The Light Try The Lst But If Its Two Feet Tall Now It May Be To Late You Can Top Each Branch Also That Will Encourage Outward Growth. However Dont Top Untill You Have To.

Thanks everybody. I read somewhere that its recomended to top no more than twice. Not too sure about that and why but the mom i have is never going into flowering. So all i have to do is just keep topping her everytime she gets too close to the light right? i just got a new box type container thats 30 inches tall....you guys think its still too small?

Why not flower her? She'll probably reward you very well.

I think it's OK to top/prune a mom more than twice...but she'll eventually get old and haggared on you...making more woody stems than pliable growth for clones. I would advise taking some choice clones off her before that happens and choosing one/two of the best looking ones (whatever trait that is to you) for a new mom...starting the entire process over.

just a thought.

my friends plant got way too tall for his closet aswell, but he never did anything about it, we were noobs then, and he just got rid of them thinking there was something wrong. I would recommend just sending them into the flowering stage (12/12 light), you will be rewarded.

Thats exactly what im doing, but not too sure if my cloning skills are any good yet. I tried cutting a few clones...just waiting now to see what happens now. Its been a week now...still no roots but the leaf seems fine. If all goes well i think i might just take clones and cloning them before flowering eliminating the need for mother plant. That way my veg room can just be a small box or something thats easy to hide. I just dont want to end up losing my whole stock if cloning goes bad one time. Any of you guys do that?
