About to start a indoor grow need some advice (w/ pictures of setup)

hey i'm new to growing indoors and was going to see if anyone could give me some tips. I build a box with a lock that fits very nicely in my closet. What reflective material should I put in there? I can't have it smelling up my room so I need a way of filtering it out. I have about $3,000 put away for anything I might need so give me a list of what I should buy, seeds, filters, lights, ect. I'm not going to have 20ft weed plants growing in that box I'm going for the smaller ones. Any advice helps...once again i'm completly new at this.

It would probably be better if that box could be stood on its side, so you have more height.

Good idea for Standing The box Tall - that way the heat will rise from the Light.
If you are set on using this box - line it with mylar - you can get a roll of the shiny wrapping paper at any 99 Cent store - 10 feet for 99 cents - even if one side is colored the inside is usually shiny mylar - best stuff you can find - even better for small spaces

Now ventilation will be important - most important - you may want to install a few small fans, air in-take towards the bottom and hot air out at the top of the box - the plants will need to breath co2 - being tucked away in the closet may not help it much - they do sell c02 buckets for like $40 but you have to replace them like every 45-90 days - gets costly. What type of growing setup have you decided on Hydro or soil? Keep us posted were all here to help each other out!

You can also use emergency blankets or paint it white. As for the co2, you might be better off just getting some yeast and sugar in a 24oz bottle and letting it build co2 up and releasing it every day. That box is way too small even if you wanna to grow small plants.
In fact, I would use that box for a bud dryer instead.
If you have $3000 you should buy or build something much bigger.

I don't know what strain or method your planning on growing. But growing
marijuana is sort of like growing tomatoes.
If your going to grow in soil, you'll need to put your plants in a pot. That's about 6 inches in height.
Now you need light. I would go with using a 2 foot T5 light fixture. This is a very thin light fixture but it will still hang down abouit 6 inches.
Looking at your box it looks about 18 - 20 inches high, maybe smaller.
That will give you only about 8 inches of growing.
What do you plan to do with an 8 inch plant. You certainly can't get any bud off of it.
Marijuana plants need a very good root structure to produce bud. When
growing in soil, roots take much more time and need alot of room to
get big enough to take up nutes.
Now if you were going with hydro, it could be done.....maybe.
This would definitely require an entirely different setup, and some experience.

Dude, get yourself a couple of books on growing indoors. That way you
can learn the basics.

if you stand that box on its end put a pc fan on the top back and an intake hole and put a shitload of cfls in it you could grow one nice plant in there, i think you can get what looks like a pc fan hooked to a carbon filter on ebay and no more smell

nope have 2 agree unless he only wants 1-2 plants and stands the box up he needs a new box u can make one or buy a grow tent or just use ur closet if u get a tent no pvc some tents have been giving off a toxic gas tat kills plants so be careful

save money and make one.. you can do it for cheep..

i agree that box is way to small but a grow tent might be to big how many plants do you intend on growing? im using CFLs right now on 1 clone and shes seems to be doing alright asside from all the problems ive had but anyways you should prolly look in to getting a bigger box and try to figure out what kind of light YOU would like to use but to be compleetly honest if i had the money to spend i would go with a 5x3x3 with a 250 watt hps and a nice big carbon filter or ozone generator and as for seeds check out nirvana.. hope i helped
