about watering

When and how much?

I've been accused of over watering more then once. I adamantly denied my over watering ways but the time has come to admit the possibility that I am in fact over watering.

I've watered my girls 3 times in the 17 days. Under four 2ft T5 bulbs (6400k) in a wooden box (see picture). First week with no fan (94 temp) second plus weeks with fan (76 degrees) Added 3 cfls (2700k) today.

Everyone who has looked at my plants had said the same thing: Over watered, Over watered, Over watered.

Is this plant ready for water yet? Notice the soil pulling away from the side. The pot is very light but the leaves aren't exactly limp yet. Normally, this is the point that I wait to water but since everyone is saying I'm overwatering I thought I might be a good idea to a) check with you guys and b) wait one more day.

If multiple people told you the same thing now they are probably right.

but let's see.
what kind of pots are you using? How often are you watering and how much water are you using at a time?
is the water coming out the bottom of the container every time you water?

if you are watering to the point that lots of water comes out the bottom of the pot, that's too much.(you can do it occasionally, but it washes your soil amendments away)

re-reading the post, you watered three times in 17 days....there is something wrong with this!
you need to get some air flow in your grow area,it will help the plants in so many ways(stronger stems, and dryer soil too name a few)

and looking at your photo you should be using 5600-5000k bulbs for your veg.
not the 2700-3000 k ones your using now.

hope this helps some

I do water till it starts to drip out of the holes. Not run out of the holes but I water until I get 2 or 3 drops of water out of the holes. Maybe that the problem?

And I did a lot of research on bulbs. From what I read, it was 6400k for vegging but some people added 2700k for more light spectrum. I'm using mostly 6400k and a few 2700k for veg. I have 2 600w hps for flower.

As far as air flow, if you look at the top picture you'll see a 4 inch inline fan blowing lots of air around. I added that about a week and a half ago. One of my girls has grown about an inch a day since I added the fan. (Notice the other three plants on stands to raise them closer to the light)

Anyway, thanks for the help. I appreciate you taking the time to look at my post.

Do you think I should water now or wait till the leaves droop a little more?
