AC Ducting Questions

I’m looking to buy an AC infinity T4 for a 4x4 / 4x8, when I look on happyhydro.com it suggests some duct filter to purchase with it. Is that required for it to work? I don’t know much about ventilation but I’ll attach the picture so you can see what I’m talking about.

my other question is would one T4 work for a 4x8 or would I need something more at that point?

No, the duct filter is a carbon filter for smell... not required for it to work, but suggested if you tryna grow in secret

word. How far could the smell potentially travel?? If it’s not 30-40 yards I should be fine

Kinda hard to say... probably more than 30 yards though !! You can often smell out door grows from down the road Get the filter if you can, imo

Grow Tent Ventilation 101

From the AC Infinity website. If you are looking for an exhaust fan for a 4x8 area you are definitely going to need something larger. The webpage breaks down some numbers to show what size fan you'll need.

4x8x7 tent (I made up the height, if your tent is taller you'll need even more CFM)

4x8x7 = 224 CFM base required to ventilate the air in the tent once per minute
20% for ducting = 44.8 CFM
60% for carbon filter = 134.4 CFM
50% for lighting = 112 CFM

Required CFM for 4x8x7 = 515.2 CFM
Required CFM for 4x4x7 = 257.6 CFM

So assuming your ducting doesn't have large bends and their are no other factors impeding the air flow then you'd require approximately 515 CFM to ventilate that 4x8 area.



Based on those numbers you're looking at needing an 8" exhaust fan for proper ventilation. If you are working with the 4x4 then I'd recommend the 6" exhaust. Good luck!
