So I stumbled on to someone's retweet of someone else where they're claiming that HC is actively letting the police know that people are growing.

I thought there was some level of confidentiality but it looks like they're snitching people out so the police can arrive the day after your license expires. We're on the verge of legalization and they're still trying to kill us.

Paranoia..you have any idea how many licences are out there now? And yes even in the old mmar hc could communicate with local police if they need.

What box is checked on the registration that would permit HC to give info to the police?...and why would anyone check it?

What could HC possibly have to communicate about patients to the police?....no no no no no....and it's irrelevant how many licences are out there now...HC has no right to talk to anyone about my registration.

they did make that change with exchanging info among certain agencies....

The box has always been there, but they made it more relevant when they stopped issuing MMAR photo ID. You were giving Hellth Canaduh your permission to advice law enforcement you are legal for verification purposes only.

The Canadian government decided to make medical cannabis legal and to become involved in the approval process via Health Canada. Later this year, recreational cannabis will also become legal and growers can send their product that way as well.

If for some reason the police were to start investigating you for cannabis production one of their first steps should be to call HC to verify if you are legal or not. You check that box so that HC can actually give that information to them legally so that they don't simply come to your house, kick your door in to destroy your grow, shoot your pets, and arrest you. HC is not cold calling police, police have to contact them and they can only give very limited information to the police, such as the grow being legal, number of plants allowed, and expiry date.

I understand the worry though, the police exist to protect and serve government interests not the people.

....Naw....the licence on the grow room door should be enough.

Firstly..if yer a sick person.. No one is investigating you! There's no reason to.. lol

its all been decided in court and figured out they're just trying to push BS along the pile...
They have no rights to try what they may...its just their way and we will have to fight them tooth and nail the whole way too. lol

They do not know you are sick or a grower until you go under investigation, some of the ways people end up under investigation range from someone saying you are growing, to a neighbor smelling something or seeing you smoking cannabis and taking issue with it (they have no right to but some fucks will call the cops over this), to you simply having enough visitors that neighbors are suspicious and tell the police they think you are selling drugs. I was under investigation for over a year simply because I had a high traffic house because a lot of my friends at the time would come by pretty much daily, I wasn't growing legally or illegally and I was not committing any crimes but I still ended up under investigation until it was clear that I was doing nothing illegal.

You need to remember that these jackbooted thugs have already raided legal grows, they are not pleasant about it, they are fucking assholes with badges and guns looking for an excuse to shoot you or your pets while legally tearing your place up as much as they can.

You have way more faith in the police being reasonable human beings than I ever will.. I have been in a house that had it's door kicked in, the police are not looking for pieces of paper on doors they are breach and clearing. If you are legal you will obviously face no criminal charges in the end but you still have the fun of dealing with what can be an extremely traumatic experience while having damage you are responsible for until you can possibly recoup the costs by suing the police (if you can even win having not checked that box that is meant to avoid this very situation).

again...done correctly like it should be done.. and not for profit and or illegally...

My only actual experience is from a friend who's neighbor called about the smell. The cops came and when he said he was legal do you want to come in and see, The cop said no. My friend said did you want to count the plants? The cops said "no" that wasn't his concern or job. Then the cop asked " will you fix the odor equipment " and he said " yes " . Then the cop left.
