Adding more soil?

When I transplanted my girl awhile ago I wasn't able to use as much soil as I wanted to; I didn't buy a big enough bag. Now I have more soil, would it help to just add soil on top of the soil already in there?

yeah why not?

of course it will but it would work better if you took the plant out and put soil at the bottom, also its good to use big rocks at the bottom for good drainage

That's what I usually do. I guess I'm to lazy to take the plant out of the container. I just pour it on top and water. The fresh nutrients will eventually leak into the existing soil.

jorge cervantes said never to add clay ball or anything of the like to the bottom of the soil, but it would be better to add soil additions to the bottom of the rootball to give them extra room to go down into uninhabited soil. adding it to the top would not give the roots extra space because they dont grow up to the top, only down. but the nutrients do go down to feed the plant

Definitely add more soil, Also if you can "score" the stem. This will make roots grow where previously the stem was above soil. More roots more bud

Definitely, the roots will grow upwards and expand. If you keep your soil more moist than most(I do, but don't recommend it unless you have plenty of experience) the roots will grow right up to the surface of the soil. More roots = healthier plant, IMO.

Great! I was hoping that would be the case. I just added probably about a gallon of fox farms ocean forest soil I hope it makes a big difference, I think her roots might have been running out of room before.

Sweet. Just remember to take it easy one the nutes for at least a week, because that FF stuff will add quite a bit, and it will trickle down through when you water.
