adding sand to drainless soil

I put semi germinated seeds into 3 gallon pots yesterday with soil that took 10 minutes to drain the water and looks very heavy. It has no perlite and I cannot get any where I live.

Can I add sand?

I can get some at the fish store, is this good enough for drainage? Its the best I can do but is it enough to save it?

If I add sand then do I knock off the bottom of the soil and mix a ton of sand into it?

How to add sand?

Scoop out your seeds and enough surrounding soil to fill a dixie cup. I would not amend with sand, it won't do much for your improving your drainage. Order some good soil online or amend your soil with equal parts perlite, coir, and worm castings. Order it all on Amazon if you can't find it locally.

if you use sand as a drainage aggregate, use 50% sand. coarse only, well-rinsed..
but as stated.......Amazon. love my Prime.
