Ok so im looking at setting up a 400 watt metal halide light and 2 400 watt high pressure sodiums and in my basement i found a hanging circular light with a reflector built on it and the ballast says wwp 660 w 250v on it. would i be able to replace the socket with a mogul socket and put in 400 watt bulbs to use for growing? IM ASSUMING that it meens a max of 660 watts and 250 volts and that if i attached a mogul socket the 400 watt bulbs im planning on using would work correctly but i came here to make sure so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

ps built in socket right now supports regular incandescant bulbs can socket be switched?

really hoping this works cause will save so much $

it wont work, sorry but there is no way to get around buying a ballast, the socket you are looking at is just a regular socket, the halide or hps wont light up without a ballast, look on craigslist if money is an issue, i always see them on there for cheap

the bulb will only work with a ballast designed for that wattage and type of bulb. im sorry but there is no easy and effective way of getting around this.
