Advice on discolored roots. with pics

The roots on my plants are always brown. I'm wondering what is causing this.

I've only been growing for about 2 months. I built a large 100 gallon raft DWC with a reservoir that tops off the main tub and recirculates water. I use General Hydroponics 3 part Flora series. I'm hoping it is normal for GH nutes to turn your roots this color but I don't see too many other peoples roots lookin all skanky like mine. I did a water change about 3 days before this pic was taken. I always adjust the PH and add nutes to the water in separate 55 gallon drums before I add it to the main bed. I scub everything with bleach water including the inside of the plumbing every water change.
The GH nutes leave a brown residue stain in the reservoir as the water level drops.

Is this normal, algae, slime???

use 3-4 ml per gallon of 35% h202 and 5ml per gallon hygrozyme with your nutrients next changeout. i'd also take those to the sink or outside and spray the roots off thoroughly right before change out. you'll shake it. good luck.

what he said, it looks like it may be root rot. is it slimy and is some of the roots not "crisp" if some of the roots are soft and slimy you have a classic case of root rot, maybe brought on by temps being too high in the rez.

you will want to do a full change asap and hand wash the roots in the same H2O2 solution until they are pretty much white. like i siad its probally due to temps rising too high so may want to keep an eye on your rez temps, if thats not it i dont know im not really a hydro guy i just have done my share of reading on it.

if you dont take them out and hand wash the roots the rot will just cause more rot so you want to get rid of any residual rotted roots you can when you do the rez change.

best of luck man

If your worried about spraying them. mix up a tub of water with some h202 in it. same concentration as above or maybe a little stronger, and soak them in it for 20 miniutes or so. soak in reg water. Do a rez change while working with the other tubs.

Actually the brown stuff is kind of gritty, like tiny specs all over. I've had the slimy stuff and this is different. Water temps never get over 66F.
I'll try throwing in some H2O2 just to see what happens.

You ever figure this out? Having same issues. Its not slimey and looks like specs. If i touch roots i get some brown water type residue on my fingers.

Not slimey. Res temps are low 60s

I don't know but whatever it is is making your plants look very weird. You do know we grow weed here, don't you? Lol.

Hey man what happened here. I'm having the same problems as you. Real gritty brown shit all through the roots. Not rot or slimey at all.
Let us know what it was and what you did to remedy it.

Cheers
