Advice On First Time Grow

Hey Peeps.

First time grow with a mystery seed. 4 weeks in veg. 6 weeks since planted from seed. Im growing in the middle of winter so am growing outdoors for 12 hours and then putting it under a Mars 48 reflector for another 6 hours at night. Doing this to save on electricity. I live in South Africa so our winter sun is strong and it gets good sun all day.

He/She is at 12 inches now and no signs of pre flowers. There is some bulging beginning at the internodes so am hoping I get pre flowers soon. My grow cabinet is 2m tall so am worried to let it get too big before the 12/12 switch. Should I flip it to 12/12 before he/She grows to 18 inches or do I wait until pre flower and then top the plant? Any suggestions. Also am curious as to what strain it is. Obviously a sativa dominent. The seed is from the UK so not a local strain.

900mm, wider than I need. It may turn out to be a male but hey.. Will get the seeds off it and retry again with 8 or 10 plants. Pic a cpl strong females.

Yeah true. Rather more than lesd. I was thinking about that but in about a month we move out of the 12 hours of darkness plus my garden isn't secure so am worried about someone stealing my buds. So would be happier if I flowered it inside.

Well, in that case, take the top as a clone, sex it, and the veg time while waiting for the truth will widen her out

Fingers crossed for you my friend! I hope that you end up with a bitch!!!!!!!!!

I just pulled a male 4 weeks ago that looked just like that. He vegged for 4 weeks and showed me his nuts 5 days into flowering. Nice and tall, skinny with good distance between nodes.

Good idea. I've never cloned before though. I got rooting powder which I'm testing on a chilli plant cutting. ( can see it in the pic in the homemade humidity dome) If that works i might try that. Thnx

Take this advice how you will, but mountain superstition is the seedlings that get tall and thin are male.
Females tend to be stockier under same conditions.
Again, unverifiable advice. I've never personally bothered to put this to the test.

Thanks bud. Hoping it's a she. Only had 1 seed so I have to hold thumbs. I hope it doesn't take much longer to get pre flowers. Do they start near the top at the 5th or 6th nodes? Also is the female pre flower pointier?

Oh dear... You should check out the myriad "is this a male?" threads...

Nice dome, though. I do the same thing with gallon bottles and 2liter soda bottles.

Gonna test that theory on some local bag seeds. Will start germination next week. Ill update this thread when I've got a few growing. We'll see if it's true.

That plant has some beautiful thick green leaves ooof. Really hope its a female but damn does she look strong and masculine.

Im hoping so too buddy. But if she's a he I got some seeds. From some good stuff so ill just grow a bunch and get me some females. Im hoping I'll see pre flowers in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
