Advice on PAR meters, needed or not?

Just how important is it, I mean is there a certain number we want to reach for growing? Looking at purchasing a budget PAR meter for a few reasons, one is I am curious my Lumigrow LED will put out.

Using the meter you take readings from the top of the plant right? I can see where it may be used also for the lower levels to check on how well the lighting is penetrating
or not. How many out there use a meter and use the readings to help to get the maximum yield?

the metter is just a checking tool ...................the lights in hids will lower as they get older


it all depends on the system u have to the height u want to run from it ..............i had a 600w hid in a cool tube 8/6 inches from a main cola going to see the results in a few days .............the plant did not show heat or light stress the buds looking thick

you want to measure and adjust your lights so the outside plants are receiving between 400-700NM on the meter.
