aeration

I saw here in faq, that you could poke whoes in the soil for aeration. So instead of buying soil from the store could i use the dirt from my back yard an poke acouple wholes in it? so no root rot?

get some perlite to mix in the soil. if you have good native soil use it.

i also use 1 inch PVC pipes filled with perlite and drilled in 1 inch spaces to create vertical air tunnels in my pots. the plants love them, roots grow all into the holes.
